Title: Lucy Winkleman

Lucy Winkleman - February 27, 2009 04:14 AM (GMT)
Name Lucy Winkleman
House: Ravenclaw
Blood Half-Blood
Physical Appearance:
Lucy stands at nearly 5 and a quarter tall, but she was proud of her unique high. Her long chestnut-brown hair flowed just below her shoulder, but she always wished her hair was shorter. It didn’t curl nor wavy naturally, it was rather too flat in her opinion, which she hated. But what she was proud of was her skin.

Although she was pale white like her mother, her sprinkles of freckles across her face reminded Lucy of her father, which always would brighten her day. It was not that Lucy wanted to be pale, rather she spent most of her days indoors studying. Lucy’s favorite aspect of her appearance was her almond shaped crystal blue eyes. They always seemed to attract the opposite sex the way Lucy loved. Lucy was very petite, some would call her bone-thin, but don’t let her size fool you. She was not someone to be fooled with, for she was strong enough and brave enough to stand up against anyone in a fight if needed.

Lucy was one of those girls that loved to wear makeup and did so whenever possible. Likewise clothing was something that Lucy also loved to explore. Being raised in a Muggle household, her mother taught her to follow and appreciate the quality of Muggle clothing.

Personality:
Lucy is a hard person to read for most people around her. By her mother’s wishes, Lucy was sent to Muggle primary school. There she learned how to be “normal”, but she never seemed to fit in to the crowds. Her father, a former Ravenclaw, understood early in her life that she was gifted to become a witch. Although her life was lived under a Muggle lifestyle, Lucy was taught to be proud of who she was, whoever that was, and to learn a few tricks along the way.

She did not have many friends in primary school, mostly because she understood who she was, and what they were not. This did not change once she entered Hogwarts, although the “they” were no longer different. But Lucy still found it difficult to make lasting friendships, and therefore she has very few of them. She cares greatly for her friends, which she does seem to find, although her most loyal friend in return seemed to almost always be a book rather than a human being. Because of her childhood, she has little tolerance for narrow-mindedness. Because of this Lucy often finds herself having to defend herself and she never backs down from a fight.

Equally, Lucy hates admitting when she's made a mistake. Pride is something Lucy finds to be a positive aspect of her character, not a concern. It has kept her unique and sane in her life so far. Organization was something that kept Lucy happy when it came to both schoolwork and life. She needed everything neat and tidy, and on-time. She thrived under pressure, but secretly hated the panic feeling it gave her. She is a very quiet person, not vocally, but simply most people never are talking about anything interesting for her to include her own opinion on the subject. For the most part, Lucy loves to live a daring lifestyle, if only to pleasure herself.

Character Background:
Lucy was born into a very loving household. Her family lived in Lancaster, England for the better part of her life, only moving to London when Lucy was 9 because of her father’s work. For the first few years of Lucy’s life, she didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary from her neighbors and playmates. It wasn’t until the age of four that something made her realize Lucy was unique during a family vacation in the country with her mother, father, newborn baby sister Katharine, and younger brother William who was one year her junior. While playing hide and seek with her brother, William, she stumbled upon a deep hole that leads into a large cavern. Curious to see what was inside Lucy decided to try and throw a rock into the hole to see how far it would go. But as she was about to throw it in, her doll she was carrying fell in instead. Saddened she panicked and tried to grab it. Only to fit it was levitating just below the hole. Frightened at this sight, she quickly ran back to her parents, who explained to Lucy what she was.

From that moment on her life remind a Muggle-style life, with schooling, playgrounds, bullies, and so forth. But Lucy knew she was different. She tried to forget that part of her felt suppressed for most of her life. Her mother refused to allow magic in the household, and her father agreed. Lucy thought she was to live her life forever without magic. She eventually forgot about it. When it came to her siblings, being the big sister for both of them made her happy to have them, fighting and all. Because Lucy was raised in a Muggle lifestyle her magic being something of an afterthought. Rather she became more concerned with friends, makeup, and dress up. Lucy was a very girly girl in primary school, a trait that leads to many boys fancying her. She loved the attention; it was something she secretly craved from everyone. But she wanted to be as smart as she was pretty. Lucy seemed to confuse people when she could not only answer every question in class, but also look pretty doing so while being able to stand up in a fight if need be. Lucy knew most of her attitude and appearance was out of luck, she had a great disgust for everyone to see.

It wasn’t until her 11th birthday that her life had changed once more. It was that day Lucy’s father told her about the magical letter that would lead her to her next school year, and to Hogwarts. A few months later, Lucy received this fateful letter that her father had spoken of. And many adventures and lessons later she enters Hogwarts’ majestic grounds for the fifth year of study to see what it holds for her this time.
