Title: posting permission

Roderick Dempsey III - June 1, 2009 01:08 PM (GMT)
So I joined this site back in 06 with this account and I've found it again through surfing. Looking at signing up again with same character with a slight History change. I keep getting a message that I don't have permission to post in the sorting forum. Am I trying to post in the wrong spot? | This | is where I am trying to post. I'm using the same email and it won't let me register again with it.

Have you posted your character profile in this forum yet? Since you've already been sorted with the character you've signed up with, your best bet would be to either post your modified profile in there or to edit the profile that you originally posted.

Don't worry about making modifications to the history, appearance and personality of your character. People add stuff and make modifications to their profiles all the time. The workshop forum is designed so that people can both give and receive feedback when modifying their profiles. If you'd like someone to critique, that's the best place to go.

I don't have access to the admin CP to verify this, but I'm pretty sure that only people from the usergroup of "Muggles" can post there. The purpose of the Sorting Ceremony is to place people in their Houses.

If you'd like someone to look through your history and profile before you post, you can ask one of the staff members, probably one of the SMOOSHers just because they always seem to be online. If you can get it to me in the next day or two, I can look over it myself. =)

Alternatively, if you want your character to be re-sorted (ie, if you're planning to do a complete revamp and think that Roderick might not fit in Slytherin), you should PM one of the admins (Sundari Harmony, Cloe Carrigen, Tycho Brynhild, Vorian Atreides or Blyssenor Wright, all profiles linked from the sidebar) and ask them about re-sorting.

I hope that answered your question.

I wasn't sure if it would be okay to just start posting considering its been over two years since I was last here or if it would be best practice to apply again. His ORIGINAL SORTING is here. It would be pretty much the same, just a change to his history and some re wording on parts. Basically the same person, just a little darker.

So I should be fine to just get out there and start plotting?

Since it seems like you're just planning to make minor edits, I would make sure it's posted in the Witch and Wizard Registry forum. That way, you can go back and edit history, personality and even appearance as you discover more things about your character. I'd also suggest posting a topic in the Profile Workshop. Not only will that give other people a chance to offer suggestions and feedback, but it will also allow you to track how Roderick's profile has changed. =)
