Title: [H]Janet Mossey

Janet Mossey - November 19, 2009 02:56 AM (GMT)
Name: Janet "Jan" Angela Mossey

Age: 15

Bloodline: Muggleborn

Physical Appearance: Janet is exactly every guys dream girl. She has always been a bit on the heavy side. Okay...for her short height...a lot on the heavy side. At 5"3 and a solid 160 pds, she is a little too roly poly for her own liking.

She has nice enough features - it's just that, well...pretty much everything about her is a little plain. She has mouse brown hair, shoulder length with a slight curl to it, that is incredibly thick - it could even be luxurious, if she bothered (or remembered) half of the time to brush it out. Instead, she leaves it in a halo around her head - frizzy and a little out - or in pigtails, which make her look like she's about seven.

Her face is heart-shaped; with a stubby, button nose and bigger cheeks. Even after a year in braces, her teeth are still a little crooked; as well as her too front teeth being a little, well...bucky. The overall appearance is that of a chipmunk, really - when you add in her almost eternal farmer's tan, and lack of 'naturalizing' make-up skills. A chipmunk with muddy brown eyes and big, thick-rimmed glasses.

Jan is a girl with the fashion sense of someone caught in the 80's. Most of her wardrobe doesn't match, consists of violently coloured sweaters, jeans, legwarmers and fingerless gloves. Her overall favourite thing in the entire world, however, is a violently green pair of runners, in which she has outfitted multi-coloured laces. You'd think a girl like Jan would want to disappear - but Ms. Mossey actually appears to be attempting the opposite.

Personality: Jan is here, and proud to be here - and there's no way in hell you're gonna get her to leave anytime soon. She may look like a soft pushover and...okay...she isn't exactly the best fighter or defender in the school (she's actually better at talking herself into situations, rather than out of them) but one has to admire that she certainly doesn't want to fade away into the background. She's weird, she knows it - and the best trait about her, possibly, is that she embraces her oddities.

Curiosity may have killed the cat, but satisfaction will surely always bring Janet back. She is always getting into something or other - wether she shoulder really be sticking her nose in there or not. She is a constant bother to most of the student body. Constantly getting underfoot, badgering her teachers with hypothetical questions.

Jan seems to have questions about everything - why does it rain? How come Wizards won't stop it from raining, because they probably can? D'ya think that the idea of religion, that there's some god in heaven above, who is always watching over everyone is kinda creepy? - Even the most patient of students can be tried by Jan's ceaseless questions. Everyone probably believes that life would be better without Jan always there to drive everyone insane with her insistent talking - but Jan knows that she is deep in their hearts. Or, at least, she hopes.

For a nerd, Jan is strangely...perky. She is more curious about other people's lives than wary about getting beaten up. Jan's lifelong ambition, even before she found out about her special 'talents', is to be an investigative reporter. Well, either that, or a cook - this girl's second obsession is definitely food - and she's a pretty good cook too.

Lastly, Jan is a secret drama nerd as well. She often is humming some weird song under her breath...or tap-skipping down the hall. Let's just say...usually people keep out of the way of Jan - forceful nutbar that she is.

Character Background: Jan was born while her parents - Irene and Joshua - were on vacation in Stockholm on the 17th of August. She was the second of three kids - and the only girl. Her brother, James, would come three years later, and her older brother, Phillip, was born three years before - so she was literally sandwiched in the middle.

From the start, Jan was a fiercely determined little kid. Losing to her brothers was never an option. Instead, she bullied and simultaneously made her brothers adopt her as a playmate all the time. She was, ironically, rather tall for a kid - a ball of energy that was always able to make other family members to do what she wanted.

It wasn't until Jan was older that odd, magical things started happening whenever she was around. When she was five, she was playing around on the burners on the stove, trying to cook dinner - and despite placing the full flat of her palm on the burner, she wasn't so much as warm, when her freaking mother pulled her hand away. Similarly, although she was nearly twice the size of her youngest brother, she was always able to beat him in races - once, when he came close to outrunning his pudgy sister, he stopped and fell back - after hitting what appeared to be solid air.

All these odd occurrences seem to be unexplainable, until Janet’s aunt - Irene’s brother Ike’s wife, visited one Christmas before her tenth birthday. Aunt Helena, it turns out, was a witch - a muggleborn, like Jan - and she knew exactly what to do. She took Jan under her wing - inviting them to stay with their family over the summer, and explaining to Jan’s bewildered parents what was going on with their strange daughter.

Of course, most of what happened next is relatively routine - Jan isn’t exactly a odd case as far as Muggleborn witches go. She received a letter to Hogwarts the year after her ‘talents’ were explained to her - and since, she has been attending the school regularly. Her youngest brother has been the only one kept out of the loop as to Jan’s whereabouts - explaining her absences away as her attendance at a specialty cooking school in Scotland.

Desired House: Hufflepuff//Gryffindor Maybe

Roleplay Sample: The halls were volumous, echoing - well, any word really that could describe the quality that the thick, stone walls and the high, arched ceiling gave to the multitude of voices that yattered on and on and on in the great hall of the school. It was easy to see why they called it ‘great’.

But Jan wasn’t interested in the noise volume or the acoustics of the hall. Nor were those closest to Jan really interested in anything else. The three closest first years around her had odd expressions on their faces - some of wonderment, some of scathing, silent mockery - but none of it was directed at the fast, magic-filled hall around them. They were like moths drawn to the flame - the hot pink, neon orange flame of Jan’s off-the-shoulder blouse and spiky skirt set. She had left the front of her black cloak (black? really? How uncreative - they could have at least been deep, majestic purple, or had glowing, glimmering stars on them like stage magicians usually had. Black was so...blaa) she had purposely left open - and she was definitely one of the brightest, most eye-catching things in the room.

Jan didn’t notice the stares or the snickers. Instead, she dutifully sniffed the air - her eyes squinting to near-shut in the candlit room, out of pure ecstacy. Food - the scent of luscious meals either ready to be served, or from meals past, perfumed the room. Jan had died and gone to heaven. Or, at least...maybe hadn’t died. She didn’t think she looked as faded or see-through as some of the real ghosts that drifted around the room. She would never be so drab- and therefor, she probably hadn’t drifted off to the underworld yet - but she certainly was in some sort of heaven.

“Hey, Easter egg! Move your fat ass!” Cried a boy from behind her, giving her a smack against a wooly-cloaked shoulder - forcing her forward. Obviously, she had stopped moving as she had stopped to smell the delicious air. Jan was jostled back, rather suddenly, into the real world - but she bounced back rather quickly, feigning humility as she stepped aside to let the boy pass - while surreptitiously jutting out a phosphorescent sneakered foot as he glided forward.

SMACK! He fell like a ton of bricks. Jan huffed, almost is sympathy, as she stepped easily over the fallen boy. Nobody would need to know she had cause the kid to fall - after all, she looked more like a teddy bear than a secret defender. The tripper probably figured his own shoelaces had brought him down.

Nobody ever expected the nerds.

Congratulations! You have been sorted into Hufflepuff. Welcome to Wizarding Realm!

In light of the fact that you are new, here are a few bits of information that will help you on your journey to greatness. :)

Introduction Topic: One of the greatest ways to get to know other members (aside from RPing of course) is to make an intro topic. You can do that here. Post so that you may be properly welcomed!

The Ranking System: In an effort to help you reach your greatest writing potential, WR has instituted ranks. You start out as a beginner. Once you create three topics and put your application up for review, you will most likely be bumped up to novice. Once you reach that level, more forums in Hogwarts open up to you. Such as... the plotting pages and the journals. After that, you can pursue higher ranks; They are Intermediate, Advanced, and Elite. More detailed information and applications can be found here.

The Clash: Fast forward several years into the future, after your character has graduated from Hogwarts and had a little time to live. Two groups, The Guardians and Vesithe, are at war with each other. Another group called the Vigilante are neutral and work to stop the fighting. This is an ongoing plot that is seperate from the rest of the WR Roleplaying. You must have 50 posts to join, but that's not that hard! :P

Other Information: The signature limit is currently 500x250. Annnd colors are not to be used in your roleplaying posts. We have a skin changer and several different color skins. What might look good on one skin could be unreadable on another. Oh oh, and if you are already a member of WR, and have not gotten permission for having this character from Sundari Harmony, you better do so quick or feel her wrath. xD

Thanks so much for joining and we all hope to see you stay!
