Personality:If you ask Jonah a question, you'll more than likely get an answer that you weren't expecting. He's the kind of person to ignore you if you look like bad news, even though deep down, he's dying to talk to you. Jonah likes adventures and being spontaneous, but it takes a lot of pushing for him to disobey the rules. He's somewhat of a pushover and wouldn't do anything for his friends without them asking; loves doing little things for people that make them feel good. Putting a smile on someone else's face puts one on Jonah's. Often, you can find Jonah pondering anything and everything - he's one of the most philosophical people you will ever meet, although he hates philosophy from an academic standpoint.
Jonah is a big dork and loves to laugh. He has his moments when he can be very silly and crazy, but normally, he tends to be very level headed and calm. In most situations, he's the mediator and keeps his friends out of trouble. The boy can't help it that he's obsessive compulsive when it comes to most rules. Since he's a prefect, he always tries to help him friends do stupid stuff in a smart way. Mainly because his ass is in jeopardy if they end up getting caught. Some people may describe him as a wet blanket, or Percy Weasley-like, if he doesn't like you and catches you not abiding to the rules. If you're really on his bad side, he'll write you up for walking too slowly in the halls. Just because he has that mico-authority. And he kind of finds it funny.
MORE BULLETS
loves thinking about things and why they are the way they are.
He has a small group of close knit friends that he sticks to. It isn't often when he steps out of his comfort zone in the social scene.
Character Background:Jonah Rufus hails from a small town bordering Brimingham, England. He grew up surrounded by Muggles, because he is one. When Jonah isn't studying at Hogwarts, he lives with his Muggle parents Eloise and Sethaniel Rufus. Being brought up from a Muggle background, where everyone is ignorant to the Wizarding world, the letter that he received seven years ago was thought to be a joke. A school of witchcraft and wizardry? That just sounded ridiculous, though, Jonah was hopeful and open minded about it. Eloise and Sethaniel continued to throw the letters into the rubbish bin every time they sifted through the post, until it finally happened - people that worked for the Ministry ended up coming to the Rufus household to tell them about the school. Eloise and Sethaniel were still very skeptical and they didn't like the idea of sending their only child away to this unknown school that was technically geographically non-existent; Hogwarts was nowhere to be found on maps, books or even on the internet. It wasn't until they visited Hogsmeade that it all started to become a little more real.
After weeks of contemplating sending their only son to the school, they finally came to the decision to allow Jonah to attend Hogwarts. Of course, they still weren't very comfortable with the idea, but little Jonah begged and pleaded non-stop. They figured that if he didn't like it at the school, he could always come home. He would always have the option and still does if things don't go his way. That never happened though...it didn't matter how much they hoped and wished that he would hate it there and return home, to the real world. The only communication they'd have year round would be through owl post since e-mail wasn't something that wizards had. They managed though. Writing Jonah every week and expecting a letter or two back consistently. To this day, they still aren't open-minded to the wizarding world because it's the 'unknown', but as long as Jonah is safe and happy, they're happy for his decision of staying at the school and continuing his studies.
Jonah's first year was definitely the most awkward for him. He had a herd time adjusting in a completely different world from what he was used to. As well as finding people that he connected well with. At the age of twelve, he was very shy and quiet. He couldn't talk to anyone without getting tongue tied or biting on his cheek. The simplest of tasks made him so nervous, that it was impossible to hide his blush. During flying class his first year, he broke his nose. This instantly broke him out of any ideas playing any sports on a broom - let alone quidditch. It's very rare when he gets on a brook just for the hell of it. Unless if you pull his teeth, or happen to be Ivory Vein.
Year two at Hogwarts was very similar to year one, but he had a couple of friends who he was able to confide in. This was a big step for him. For a while, he felt very out of place in Hogwarts because of the fact he was a Muggleborn. Whenever talking to his fellow classmates, he always tried to keep blood purity out of the conversation because it made him feel uncomfortable. He hides it more now at the age of seventeen than at the tender age of twelve.
It wasn't until Jonah's fifth year that he finally had his first girlfriend. It wasn't anything too serious, because he was far too shy to do anything more than hold hands and quick pecks on the lips. It lasted a couple of months - two tops. Unfortunately, the girl got bored with him because he was more wrapped up on his studies than her - and he was too afraid to tell her. Jonah just didn't like the idea of hurting her for breaking things off, but ended up looking like an even bigger pansy in the end when she dumped him in the Great Hall, in front of his fellow Ravenclaws. As embarrassing as it was at the time, he was relieved that he wasn't the one to dump her first because he didn't know how to.
Sixth year was, alright. Nothing too exciting happened.
Now, Jonah is in his Seventh year and surprisingly enjoying it a lot. He's a little nervous that this is his final year at Hogwarts, but is also looking froward to leaving and moving on with his life. Turning the page and starting a whole to chapter. He's still on the fence when it comes to knowing what he wants to do or if he wants to even stay in the Wizarding World after graduating. Being a Muggleborn, his parents hope that he decides to return home in Yorkshire. Get a 'real' career. Maybe even be a dentist.
- Jonah has only had one girlfriend in the past and has been in a love drought ever since. He's quite angelic, the most he has ever done was hold hands and kiss on the lips...his fifth year. Not many girls can get him away from his books so they end up losing interest in him pretty fast if they ever did have those feelings for him.
- There aren't many people that can pull him away from his studies. Ivory is pretty much the only one that's able to - because he's kind of in love with her.
- Due to his fear of dark water, he won't go anywhere near a body of water unless if it's a bathtub or swimming pool. Yes, he's a pansy and knows it.
- Jonah has a pet owl named
Maverick. They don't get along particularly well, so it's very rare when he decides to use him to send letters home to his parents. Instead, he prefers to use the schools owls; since Maverick has lost several letters in the past. It's a surprise that he even comes back - Jonah is pretty sure it's only because he gets fed. Bugger. Maverick is quite irritating - loves to nip, leave droppings on your back and isn't very gentle with his talons. Oh, and he's the ultimate mooch too! One of his most infamous pastimes is stealing food from students in the Courtyard and/or Great Hall when they turn their cheek. The owl is pretty much the devil in a feathered body to - well - everyone.
