Title: [G]Caitlin Somers

Caitlin Somers - December 22, 2009 11:17 PM (GMT)
Name: Caitlin Sloane Somers
Age: Fifteen
Bloodline: Halfblood

Physical Appearance: Caitlin, with her round cheeks and sunny smile, looks like Britain’s sweetheart, only with a nose piercing to tarnish the image. Her round face is of a creamy color, with freckles sprinkled under her eyes. Her nose is pinched at the bridge, with the tip being a little wider than she would like. Her hazel eyes are framed by black lashes and she takes care to emphasize them when doing her makeup. She has her mother’s lips: plump and pink, Caitlin has the tendency to bite them, whether in concentration or sheer subconscious boredom. Her hair is brown with dark blonde streaks, waves falling to the middle of her back. Her physique is barely an intimidating one; at five four, just one hundred and twenty pounds, she’s petite and slim. Any curves aren’t overtly noticeable and she prefers to keep it that way – Caitlin wants people to like her for her, not how big her boobs or ass is. She does, however, like to experiment with clothing and styles. One minute might have her in a preppy sweater and pleated skirt; the next, a graphic tee and torn up bleached jeans. Her style is like her personality: followed on a whim.

Personality: Caitlin is perhaps best known for her “glass half empty” beliefs. She will always want the bad news first, and would prefer to have low, negative expectations about someone. Why? She likes putting herself in low spirits, so she can then be cheered up by the good stuff. She’d rather not be optimistic and have her hopes be dashed; in her mind, it’s better to be pessimistic and either stay in the mood, or become happier. She’s an idealist, always going after what she wants, almost becoming ruthless in her pursuit. Caitlin is a troublemaker; however, she has quite the skill in not getting caught. A true troublemaker, she believes, isn’t someone who allows him or herself to get caught; those are attention whores with enough time on their hands to serve detention. A true troublemaker causes havoc and confusion, sitting back and watching people figure out who’s responsible.

She’s certainly clever enough; sure, her hand isn’t the first one in the air, but she does get good grades and fights well in any argument. Her determined nature is always on display. Once she focuses on something, she has to get it, through sheer force of will. She hates anyone who things are simply handed down to them. Caitlin thinks everyone should get a fair chance at everything, no matter who you are. Her neuroticism is probably at the lowest known level a person can have it at. She rarely stresses about the small things, but is open to anything that comes her way. She faces any new situation head on, therefore making her more impulsive than should be allowed.

Character Background: The only child of Jonathan Somers and Jane Lowe, Caitlin grew up quite proudly bearing the title “bastard child”. Her parents never married, even after she was born; they didn’t see why they had to change their relationship, if they were perfectly fine with what they had. Thus, she was born as Caitlin Sloane Lowe, legally receiving her father’s name a month later. She disliked the neighbor children’s taunts and even witnessed a lady’s public snub of her mother when they bought some groceries. She decided that she didn’t care and realized that her parents were happier than some of her tormentor’s parents.

Being the only kid, she was left to her own devices. She liked to wander around and see if she could find anything interesting to do. Her favorite memories include a strange cast of characters: the homeless man teaching her how to tie her shoe; the green-haired lady who showed her how to blow the perfect bubble; and the twenty-something gay couple who helped her perfect a cartwheel. She admired the unusual and strange, leading her to become open in whatever. She wreaked havoc on the teasers, letting them know that, despite her not caring anymore, they weren’t going to get away unscathed.

When her magic started to reveal itself, her parents couldn’t have been more thrilled – or relieved. Caitlin was a “late bloomer”; around the age of nine did she finally prove herself magical when she hoisted her dad up by the ankle when he annoyed her. Rather than be angry, Jonathan happily swung her around and shouted to Jane the good news. She doesn’t know as to why she was so late in getting her abilities; but then, everyone is different, and she should be thrilled anyway.

Thus, she went off to Hogwarts, with the mindset that anything could happen, in due time.

Roleplay Sample: It was a little colder than it should’ve been for winter, yet Caitlin was dressed in only pajama pants, a hooded sweater and mismatched socks. It was about an hour after dinner and some of the younger students were throwing a Fanged Frisbee around the common room. She idly watched it zoom in the air, snapping at the curtains and, once, a first year who yelled in shock. Her dark hair was piled messily on top of her head, held there by a butterfly clip, and her eyes drifted away from the game to around the common room. She was bored beyond words, if any indication of her lip-biting could have told her housemates. She had Charms work to do, but Caitlin couldn’t bring herself to focus on anything at the moment. Dinner had made her lazy and she preferred to relax than do something.

She leaned further into her armchair, propping her legs up on the table in front of her. The movement caused a couple of books to be knocked off the table, but she couldn’t be bothered to pick it up, even after the book owner glared at her. She pulled up her hood, shrouding herself in a sort of mysterious aura that she rather liked. The Frisbee zoomed closely passed her, snapping at a sweater string. She flashed a look over at the third year responsible, but he either didn’t feel her gaze or refused to acknowledge her. With a fluid movement, her wand was out and she subtly pointed it at the Frisbee; it was currently going to the third year in question.

A muttered word, a light flick, and the Frisbee exploded near the boy’s face, singeing his eyebrows and the ends of his uncut hair. The common room erupted in a mixture of gasps and laughs, while Caitlin merely smiled. Heads turned this way and that, trying to figure out the culprit. Perhaps someone had stuck an Exploding Snap card under the Frisbee? Maybe a Timer Charm had been placed on the toy so it would explode on the prankster’s command? Caitlin laughed at her housemates’ ideas and she pulled herself up from her armchair, storing her wand away, before she was found out.

Charms homework sounded great to her now.

Congratulations! You have been sorted into Gryffindor. Welcome to Wizarding Realm!

In light of the fact that you are new, here are a few bits of information that will help you on your journey to greatness. :)

Introduction Topic: One of the greatest ways to get to know other members (aside from RPing of course) is to make an intro topic. You can do that here. Post so that you may be properly welcomed!

The Ranking System: In an effort to help you reach your greatest writing potential, WR has instituted ranks. You start out as a beginner. Once you create three topics and put your application up for review, you will most likely be bumped up to novice. Once you reach that level, more forums in Hogwarts open up to you. Such as... the plotting pages and the journals. After that, you can pursue higher ranks; They are Intermediate, Advanced, and Elite. More detailed information and applications can be found here.

The Clash: Fast forward several years into the future, after your character has graduated from Hogwarts and had a little time to live. Two groups, The Guardians and Vesithe, are at war with each other. Another group called the Vigilante are neutral and work to stop the fighting. This is an ongoing plot that is seperate from the rest of the WR Roleplaying. You must have 50 posts to join, but that's not that hard! :P

Other Information: The signature limit is currently 500x250. Annnd colors are not to be used in your roleplaying posts. We have a skin changer and several different color skins. What might look good on one skin could be unreadable on another. Oh oh, and if you are already a member of WR, and have not gotten permission for having this character from Sundari Harmony, you better do so quick or feel her wrath. xD

Thanks so much for joining and we all hope to see you stay!
