Title: * Amatsunou "Matty" Akira-McDougal

Amatsunou Akira-McDougal - February 21, 2010 12:40 AM (GMT)
Proof Read: 3 Times

Name: Akira-McDougal, Amatsunou “Matty”
First Name: Amatsunou (天能 meaning 'Heavenly or Imperial Gift')
Gryffindor
Age: 13
Height: 4'9
Born: September 5th 1997
Bloodline: Half-Blood

Physical Appearance:
A small girl who could potentially pass for a first or second year in terms of height, her physical capability hidden both by the appearance of youth and naturally lithe form. Her beauty if you can call it that is a result of her constant motion and workout, a fact expressed that she left home several days early to go to Hogwarts on foot, not for the whole journey mind you. Cute but average is her overall appearance and her shortness balances out her fit thinness and inability to build up weight on her body. Though her appetite certainly would suggest otherwise. This combination has stagnated the effects puberty should have had on her.

Matty is marked with molten emerald eyes that practically glow and strawberry blond hair earns her a striking appearance. This is especially true when said hair is nearly is at an arm’s length and in a braid with a simple but thick silver bracelet weaved at the end holding it in one piece. A smattering of whitish freckles tag her bronzed body like graffiti and a conjured faux tattoo of a solid five point black Star is in place on her forehead which gives her appearance an almost outrageous quality. But it does help give her a slightly older look without taking away from her childish form and nature. All in all it fits with overwhelming energetic aura that she gives off.

Personality:
Energetic practically to the touch is the way most would describe her, to the point where many feel a bit overwhelmed by her presence and unrelenting attitude. Optimistic most of the time but she doesn’t often let stop her from playing the “I don’t think that’s going to work” card. Its easy though to often tell her emotions from her face. An example of such is often when she puffs her cheeks are with her breath when she feels put out by some event or is just plain exasperated. Hard working and focused for what she feels is most important and tends to forget the rest quite quickly can some times earn her a reputation of being lazy with school work.

It’s rare that any teacher or force can get her to sit down and read a book that isn’t at least interesting to her. The exact opposite can happen if she does become interested and forcing her to change tracks is just as difficult.

Vocal though with her opinions she will often talk about anything under the sun that she has the slightest opinion on, she’s had more than one disagreement with peers and superiors about how the world works.

Her fascination with combat, fights and muggle martial arts have led to some interesting situations where she will accept anyone’s challenge to a duel.

Because of many wizarding folk and some muggles as well who have had difficulty pronouncing her name, especially when they say her first name first rather than her family name first has led her to just have people call her by her nickname Matty. How she got it as a name is for another story.

Character Background:
Born from mixed heritage of Japanese and Irish/Scottish ancestry Hayate Akira and Aisling McDougal have allowed their daughter to build a large cultural mixture that makes up her background. Akira-McDougal Amatsunou or just plain Matty as she prefers to be called has lived in the UK twice, once in Japan and once in the US. This is often the reason why her way of talking seems so varied and unique and her perspective on this being quite ‘unwizardry’.

Her father Hayate as a profession even though he was muggleborn chose to live in his fathers footsteps as a master of both Karate and Ninjutsu. This gave him the unique ability in his adult life to be a successful Martial Arts Choreographer for both the movie and gaming industry, to the point where magical life was mostly a foot note until he met his beloved Aisling.

Aisling McDougal a witch well known in the British circles of the magical community as a head in the clouds witch with a mind for Muggle movies and an excellent host of Nine-Lives Inn at Godric’s Hallow. When the two future parents met at a chance prescreening of one of the more famous British martial arts movies it was love at first, second and third sight along with Amatsunou being conceived a few hours after. Marriage wasn’t long off and a whirlwind of traveling for each movie project that Hayate found himself in.

The couple lived lives primarily as muggles when they were abroad and more open lives in the UK. Early on it was obvious she was more Hayate’s daughter than her Aisling’s a preference for martial arts gained her a first degree black belt shortly before embarking on her magical education. An impressive feat but hardly world record quality. Her first two years of magical education were during her father’s work on a movie in the US where she spent great deal of time either training or in class by way of the Floo network.

When the movie was released, the family decided to settle down for good in Aisling’s inn in Godric’s Hallow which had been tended to by Matty’s uncle (who was responsible for the reprehensible nickname as her mother dubbed it) and it was that year and in fact that month that she found that she would be sent to Hogwarts and so her story continues

It should be noted that her first magical act was around the age of five in her father’s training room, even then she had been saturated by muggle culture of movies, specifically her own father’s movies where she tried to imitate some of the more impressive ‘magical’ power displayed in them. The result was a drastic success and damaging act of intentional ‘accidental’ magic that resulted in a small team having to obliviate number of muggles outside the home.

The reason?

Explosions usually aren’t made from blue green fire nor do they leave glow-in-the-dark liquid like residue. That and three cars had been flipped over. Subsequent attempts to recreate the effect, albeit on a smaller scale have left Matty rather disappointed with only a few petty sparks instead of her ‘Bakuhatama’ or Explosion Sphere.

Other
Currently her skills as a martial artist extend only to Karate and only a beginner in Ninjutsu with a focus on the Samurai trinity of Katana, Wakizahi and Tanto as her primary weapons. She's rather disapointed that there are no trainers in Bushido anywhere near her home or Hogwarts that she knows of.

Matty often practices her Katas on the far side of the great lake inside a ring of trees that are mostly secluded.

She is hoping to do some independent study and sit-ins on Arithmancy classes so she can study up on warding and spell creation. Transfiguration is her top class with Charms being a close second.

At any point in time keeps at least one entertainment book with her, Dresden Files being one of her top favorites and a source of inspiration in terms of magical ideas, and especially identifies with the main character. Though occasionally she packs imported manga which she read in raw Japanese.

Currently she's experimenting with her own artistic skills (and a bit of magical enhancement) to make portraits hogwarts style.

Special Request
Wandless Magic
Raw use of magical energy (at first rather than anything so clearly defined), shooting sparks on the small scale at first and work things up to large explosive firework like displays.

HEY DARKARMA!

SO AS YOU WELL KNOW, I AM LILY. I am also the horrible, lazy soul that promised to go over your profile after a rank review and then proceeded to put it off until now. D: But umm. Please forgive me!

Nowww. When I review profiles, I go a section at a time. So today we shall go over the personality, because this is practically the most crucial section in the profile! Also because this is the section that will change a lot as you develop Matty. So.

I put footnotes wherever I have a comment to make; any grammatical issues outside of footnotes are in giant blue font. So, without further ado!

1 - This is...a good start but it's a bit wordy. Also, watch your syntax. Try something like this:
Matty is energetic practically to the touch, to the point where she causes people to feel a bit overwhelmed by her presence and unrelenting attitude.
Also, note how I left out "most would describe her", etc - that's almost like power-playing, and it sets a lot of expectations that people are forced to conform to. But take heart! Already, I can picture the type of person Matty is!
2 - This is a fragment. Imma let you figure out how to fix it yourself - learning by doing, see?
3 - Awkward wording? O.o It's okay to use commas. Really. We don't hate them as much as we claim!
4 - This sentence would work better in your appearance section, actually. Nice imagery, though.
5 - Again, a comma or two would turn this fragment into a sentence!

QUOTE

Okay, umm...it's good, and it's informative, but there isn't any. I dunno. Try to show and not tell more, I guess?

QUOTE
Vocal though with her opinions she will often talk about anything under the sun that she has the slightest opinion on, she’s had more than one disagreement with peers and superiors about how the world works.

Again, this is either a giant fragment or a giant run-on! Read it out loud, even if you feel foolish, and you'll figure out how to split this one up or add a comma.

QUOTE
Her fascination with combat, fights and muggle martial arts have led to some interesting situations where she will accept anyone’s challenge to a duel.

Alright, but explain why she likes combat, fighting, and such? How much time does she spend on it? Is it a hobby? Etc, I'm really excited to see this, since it can go amazing places, but we need MOREEEE. Rawr.

This actually goes more into the history. <3

IN GENERAL.

I'd say...run this through MS Word!!! Watch out for awkward wordings and fragments the the whole package. Also, one-sentence paragraphs, used consecutively, sort of gets on my nerves. D: There are lots of areas that can be elaborated on, so don't be afraid of rambling - that's what the next revisions are for, haha - and just give it all you got!

Oh and be sure to post future revisions as a reply to this topic, so we know what you've done and how much Matty has changed, alright? <3

THANK YOU & WORk HARD!

Amatsunou Akira-McDougal - March 4, 2010 04:56 AM (GMT)
Note: Here's the first half of my revision, the second half I hope to complete sometime tomorrow if at all possible.

Name: Akira-McDougal, Amatsunou “Matty”
First Name: Amatsunou (天能 meaning 'Heavenly or Imperial Gift')
Gryffindor
Age: 13
Height: 4'9
Born: April 2st 1997
Bloodline: Half-Blood
Wand: Hoshinami (Star Wave), Elder, 8 3/4" Dragon Heartstring suspended in liquid Boomslang Venom, Moderately Flexible. Dragon skin sheath and grip made from the donor of the Heartstrings.

Physical Appearance:
At first glance the girl known as Matty will often appear to be a simple looking very feminine boy, on closer inspection it turns out that he is a she. What’s more is she is a very small girl who is physically inclined, agile looking teenager. While she lacks many of the curves that girls her age could have, and many seem to do have in this day in age, she hides much of her physical strength and capability, her muscles while toned and well considerably effective in giving her both upper and lower body strength are well hidden and tightly packed into her already compact body. It’s for this that most of her curves have come from the same muscle rather than what should have come from puberty. All together she’s not all that impressive looking.

For the rest of her petite body’s appearance, barely curved muscle is decorated with a plaint spray of freckles. They however all seem to be flowing from her face.

Matty’s head though is perhaps her most striking feature. She has a rounder heart shaped face with a bit of more of a forehead than most girls would be happy to have. Her face is made quite distinct with practically molten emerald or metallic green eyes that glow in the dimmest of light. A button nose however is the most apt description for just that her nose, smell yet perfectly suited for her face. Her cheeks aren’t as prominent as most of her Japanese ancestors but at the same time they are the features the help round out her face.

When looking at her face though is where her unusual skin pigmentation becomes most visible, bronze-milk chocolate is the predominant color however with her freckles; they are a light pale brown that’s nearly buttermilk. The overall effect makes it as if the shade of Matty’s skin has been inverted, what should be dark is light and what should be light is dark. These freckles only spot the front of her face around her cheeks sparsely; they seem to concentrate the most around her hairline, ears and the side of her neck.

The final kicker though is her natural hair color is a interwoven strands of white-blonde and fiery red which in part gives her multi-shaded waterfall of pink hair that looks perpetually wet. To further the effect when it’s actually wet, it’s almost a metallic in the way is reflects an iridescent pink glow. Though in many cases it’s altered through magic to be any number of colors, but the watery effect carries through every time.

Personality:
Matty burns with an overwhelming energy that surround her, this is both an effect of her magical power and innate often infectious personality that seems to exude youthful vigor into everyone around her. She is to say at the least an overpowering presence that makes her known even you can’t see her. But this energy is not always positive, it fluctuates, changes and often is never exactly the same. While this makes her an easy read, it also makes it easy to overestimate the mood that she’s in. Matty’s anger is on the rise it would be easier to face Mount St. Helens the moment it blew than to stand in her way even though she may only be thoroughly annoyed. While a light depression seems to metaphorically darken a room like Gryffindor Tower and make the Dungeons a pleasant place to retreat too.

What makes her disturbing is the magnitude of how complex and how simple minded she can be at the same time. She can focus on a single task to the detriment of her health or at times she can flicker from subject to subject with no apparent ability to sense the flow of a conversation. Though these are extreme cases, she always exhibits some level of this blessing and curse. The most obvious case of this happening is the most common example, she can start talking and in her mind she’ll have a full picture of the subject in her head but start half way through a sentence or an entire speech, fully believing that people will understand what she’s staying as if she had fully explained the subject in detail for the last ten hours.

Another example of her ability to focus rather than flicker is in reading something that has attracted her interest, whether its fifty pages or a thousand pages, she will rarely stop reading, forgetting that she’s even hungry or that she should have slept six hours ago or anything else for that matter. With a good book in hand the world ceases to exist, utterly.

How this girl who should have become a haunter of a Library became interested in the harsh courts of the tournament with Martial Arts pumping in her blood is anybody’s guess. Her father most likely is the primary source, but her main motivation seems like it more has to do to self improvement. The refinement of whatever discipline she’s focused on is the ultimate goal. This same drive burns with the arcane arts and it bring about something for real for her, the practice of magic has a much more visible result that she can feel with fiber of every her body and soul. Something she can be sure of, the self satisfied feeling which she can fully realize.

All this combined with a need for knowledge and the wish to feed her ego’s satisfaction is what makes her probably one of the most vocal people in the British Wizarding realm. Matty will express any ideas that occur to her that she thinks are right and will almost always be self-assured that they’re at least mostly accurate due to the great deal that she has read. It wouldn’t be the first time that she’s debated with peers and professors alike and she enjoys the debate because either she’s right or there’s a chance that she can learn something new that wouldn’t have been expressed in the typical lecture setting.

Her reading though has led her into some avenues that the adult world would have her never see and to some degree affected her personality. From erotic literature to h-manga she has seen and read a great deal, more so than she should rightly have access to but that really hasn’t stopped her. She has developed a number of techniques to reign in both her more complex passions as well as helped her curtail very strong emotions. Emotions which she knows if she lets run free could have develop a number of crushes very fast on anyone who takes an interest in her and has a rather well developed feminine features. The process of developing this restraint has come at a high price; namely several painful heartbreaks and letdowns involving mostly girls a year or two older and one rather popular boy.

Amatsunou Akira-McDougal - March 16, 2010 08:01 PM (GMT)
Note: I know it took a while but here it is.

Character Background:

(Electrical buzzing and a hiss, followed by a whine of feedback)

Is this thing on?

(Tapping can be heard against the microphone)

Oh brilliant it is… where are my lines- oh!

Hello,

It’s said that if you really want to achieve something, the only way to go about it is through hard work. And yet we as students are told to work smarter not harder. I’ve always tried to do both, working hard at working smarter. Confused? Well it is a bit of a contradiction in some ways, but I digress, my point is I’m not your typical Hogwarts student. By blood I’m a half-blood because my paternal grandmother was a Muggle-Born. I don’t get how it’s relevant but I’ve been told most British types of the Wizarding world care and a number of Japanese types of the same care as well. Simply put I’m a half Japanese, and the rest of me is a lot more complex, one quarter Irish, an eighth British and the remaining eighth Scottish.

My name is Akira-McDougal Amatsunou, and you can call me Matty. I don’t let my ancestry define me but I’ve learned that ancestry can and most likely will always be important to others. I’m not stupid enough to deny that it hasn’t shaped me in the least. Quite the opposite actually, though not completely. So can we get started? This is my history were talking about and I rather not take all day dictating into a microphone.

(Assorted whispering can be heard, not all of it from Matty)

No it’s not microfilm, My-crow-Ee-Tee-phone-home, honestly and English is supposed to be my secondary language.

Right yes, on with it!

I guess I should start with who my parents are supposed to be, Akira Hayate is my father. World renowned Martial Arts choreographer though he missed his chance to help film the movie Matrix. What you don’t know what the Matrix is?

(A loud groan echoes into the mike causing even more feedback)

Damn mike! Reparo!

(Feedback disappears)

Alright listen if you want Wizarding translations wait until after this interview is over. Right, he’s a Martial Arts choreographer; he teaches actors and actresses how to fight in a way that’s similar to dancing. You know, so everything filmed is visually stunning while at the same time being a visually stimulating. Well that’s what he does; only it’s for Muggle movies- Motion Pictures like our portraits that tell stories with sound. Anyways, that’s how he met me mum, McDougal Aisling. Ah recognize that name do you? Yes she’s the most famous witch currently living in Godric’s Hallow. Runs the Nine Lives Inn & Tavern right now, but thirteen years ago that wasn’t always the case. You see my family up until recently lived mainly as Muggles, though I was born about two months after they married.

Me mum loves Muggle movies especially ones with lots of action and combat and my dad helped make them. No better chemistry on this earth exists than between those two. After all thirteen years have passed and the honeymoon just keeps going on and on. But they met at a prescreening of one of Britain’s more popular and local martial arts films and well it was love at first sight, second sight and all the hotels in between London and Godric’s Hallow. That was apparently the first week they met. Gross I know, but apparently I was conceived the day they met or in the late morning after.

Anyways, me mother could never say no to my dad and so next thing you know after six months of touring the UK, planning the wedding and setting their affairs in order they up and left for Japan. Now this is where it gets a bit interesting. While my parents are both magical the Muggle world apparently drew them into a permanent high that they couldn’t say no to. So on April 2nd, two minutes too late for the 1st I was born in a small hospital in Okinawa. And for the first eight years of my life apart from a brief 3 month stint in Godric’s Hallow just after I was born I lived in Japan. My exposure to my magical heritage was limited though the statute of secrecy wasn’t as much of a problem due how the people of Japan at times have had much of the culture intermixed with the supernatural. Some areas you had to be careful of course but other areas such as the country side it seemed like it was almost expected even by Muggle mystics who didn’t have an ounce of talent.

That said my schooling took place in Japan where I learned several life lessons. One was about my identity and the second about how bad heart break could be. Now here is something you have to understand, there are parts about my life I don’t want to talk about. Live with it. This is one of them, while I don’t keep secret that I have a certain affinity for other girls, I don’t go announcing it. This interview being the one exception…

Why exactly is the Ministry interested in the lives of transfer students anyways?

No matter. Anyways while in the muggle world such things are accepted more graciously some things just aren’t. Having a crush on the school’s most popular female upperclassmen is one of those things that rarely turn out to be a gracious event. While I made a few friends, most of them were boys who shared my interests in the female student body, no pun-

(A rather brief laugh from Matty)

-intended and the few girls I knew had no interest in me other than platonic friendship. So I was a girl who was just one of the boys, stuck in the bloody awful skirts. I’ll say this I’ve had my heart broken twice, once by a girl and once by magic. The girl was humiliating in that she’s was a prejudice as many pureblood are. I learned to get over it and to hide my feelings whenever I developed a crush.

The second heartbreak was by far the worst. I’ve always been interested in sports but among them martial arts has always been the most powerful of my attractions. Three guess why… My parents, my parents and my parents. And I had a talent for them, it allowed me to stick up for myself in school and I was the top student in the school’s martial arts club for Karate. This is also where I found most of my friends. This position did afford me some moments which I will treasure when a few of the younger students worked up the courage late in my last year to confess to me but by then I had learned to shut my feelings out and take things slow so that I didn’t ruin them or the girls’ feelings. That and I knew I wouldn’t be in Japan much longer. But again I’m getting sidetracked.

While I wouldn’t earn my black belt until I was nine, I did want to enter martial arts tournaments since I was old enough to compete. Magic took that away from me, I couldn’t control it, even now when I get worked up about a good fight I can’t help perform accidental magic. The Wizarding world doesn’t have much in the way of muggle sports so I couldn’t find a substitute there. However, there were a few times when I could enter ones in Japan sponsored in the magical world. Those unfortunately, were generally held for adults and children were strictly forbidden due to the use of magic within the combat ring as well as weapons. So I was forced to train with my father alone.

Sparring was fine but my father was a master at both karate and ninjutsu. I was no match even when he went easy on me. Oh and ninjutsu, used by the Shinobi, better known as Ninjas in the art of stealth and assassinations. There are a number of different styles within ninjutsu but it’s really not important at this juncture.

As I stated earlier that my time in Japan was coming to an end, we were moving to the States and more importantly to Hollywood California and eventual Las Vegas Nevada. It was there that I started my first two years of training within the arcane, of wizardry and witchcraft. It’s also when I blew out the wall of my dad’s dojo with my most powerful use of Wandless magic. Unfortunately it’s an event that I’ve failed to recreate so far.

(Whispering in the background and grunt from Matty)

Fine fine, I was trying to recreate one of the scenes from my father’s movie. I was trying to do a Ki blast. You know Ki, the word for spiritual energy? Sometimes called Chi or Chakra? No? Well I managed to do it, only it was with Magic. Gathered it up in the palm of my hands, all pretty, like liquid energy of mixing blues and greens. When it happened I was so surprised that I just threw it like they do in video games and likewise anime and manga. Big boom, very big boom. Toppled a number of cars, took out a large chunk of wall. It was cool. No one was hurt.

The Muggle Government was told it was from a gas leak, the Magical government was not very pleased. They asked me a bunch of questions about what had upset me. To say the least they were even less pleased to find out I did it on purpose and did it without a wand. They weren’t satisfied until about a week later when after the fourth test showed that I couldn’t recreate the effect in any controlled circumstance. That didn’t stop them from telling me that they would be more forthcoming with punishment should it happen again.

At that point I started my magical schooling shortly after my tenth birthday. That explosion followed me throughout my classes as it had been put into every major magical and muggle newspaper the day of the explosion. At first it was kind of neat, I used it to my advantage to try and get ahead in my classes and to get the teachers to teach me a bit more on how to control my magic but eventually they found that they were getting complaints of favoritism. That was the point that I started my own self schooling along with my normal studies. The school was accessed by the Yank’s floo network and there was a muggle college library in walking distance. Because I lived a dual life in the muggle world I’d managed to pick up a few things from the sciences and it helped me ease myself into higher level or reading of both their texts and their fictional books.

I especially appreciated some of the thoughts and ideas placed in books like the Dresden Files, though while the magical system implemented in it wasn’t remotely the same how it worked in real life, the concepts were transferable. I’ve been seeing how Magic could be used in tandem with muggle science ever since. Though it hasn’t really helped to earn any new friends.

After my father finished his work in the states though it was decided that we’d be moving back to the UK for good, and my mother would take the Nine Lives off of my Uncle who promised to care for it until it was time to start my magical education… yeah they were two years late on that one.

Hogwarts I must say is even more closed minded than any other place I’ve been too. Few people care that we could used magic to colonize other planets or stop global warming. It’s an inconvenient truth even here!

Oh don’t give me that look. Muggles invented flying without magic tricks. We could learn a thing or two from them.

(An un-amused snort comes from someone else in the room)

Bah, this interview is over.

Damn hypocrites! This microphone is piece of muggle technology!

(The sound of the microphone being slammed against a table causes an unending whine of feedback until the system is turned off)

Hi there! Ebbs here, and I thought I'd just pipe on in and say I love that you're trying to work on developing her. I just wanted to pipe in and say I really love your little list, it's great. But can I make just a tinsy suggestion? Maybe add something else to your flaws? To balance it out a little bit and make her more... thirteen-year-like. Feel free to ignore it. I love your writing style <3

Amatsunou Akira-McDougal - May 2, 2010 11:11 PM (GMT)
Sorry for taking so long to reply, this is really the first time that I've felt physically well enough to get back into writing.

Here's the first step I'm at rewriting. I have been getting that she does feel a little old. Any suggestions how to do that would be well welcomed. For now here's what I have so far:

Name: Akira-McDougal Amatsunou “Matty”
Sex: Female
Age: 14, April 2nd 1997
Height: 4’9
Weight: 84
House: 4th Year, Gryffindor
Bloodline: Half-Blood

Wand Structure:
Hoshinami (Star Wave), Elder, 8 3/4" Dragon Heartstring suspended in liquid Boomslang Venom, Moderately Flexible. Dragon skin sheath and grip made from the donor of the Heartstrings.
Wand Persona:
Hoshinami is a rather perturb, stubborn and oddly mischievous wand. Powerful in make though it is, it has yet to give Matty any measure of its true potential. In this and the Death Stick it was modeled after are the same. It will only give its full support to someone who not only is truly competent in transfiguration but can put their faith in Hoshinami completely. Until then only a small stripe of its magic is available and it will remain unwieldy until these conditions are met. For those who possess none of these qualities, even the weakest of magic may backfire dangerously.

Matty’s ”Way of Life”: Living the way you like is the most important thing in life. Never sacrifice it for something you’ll only regret later. If something is bothering you, change it into something better. Turn a fallen tree blocking your way into bridge that will let you cross a deadly river. Magic doesn't solve problems, it merely makes them more convenient to fix.

Personality:
Amatsunou, Matty rather is hardly what some people would call simple. At first glance she does seem to have that look of child’s curiosity in her eyes and solid, steady dedication to the arcane art. However, Matty is far from simple. The girl is wrapped in a complex maze of layers, most of which is hidden behind a façade of socially competent niceties.

The façade that she wears day and night, whether she interacts with others or not, is a mixture of both truth and lies. While it displays a great spectrum of her emotions, it belies the true depth of them. It has existed for many years starting when she first became aware of her affections for an upperclassman. When she was rejected those emotions became something more than just a mask… Since then and more recently it has come into the name “Key”; to which it denotes it some amount of sentience. In a way it’s a reflection of all that Matty is. Though the emotions it harbors are exaggerated darker forms of whatever the girl is feeling.

Those who are really empathic would feel it as if it were some kind of omniscient presence within her, something separate yet intimately tied to her. It is with this presence that she converses with in a rolling, continuous, internal monologue. It’s affect on her aura though is rather obvious, leaving flat albeit purer exaggerations of emotions but with little depth to them.

Though dark and possibly dangerous, Key has in a way formed an escape and a detachment to emotions and feelings that Matty rather won’t or cannot deal with. This leaves her seem almost binary in the way she switches from moods. She shies away from the mixed inner turmoil of her heart, but she has become better adapted suppressing dangerous impulses or not developing a true affection for the first girl she comes in contact with. However, it can at times leave her feeling very hollow and empty. It’s another feeling that she has become quite skilled in dealing with but letting everything other pure joy of some sort of activity to envelop her utterly until she’s too exhausted to feel anything else. After that its Key who takes away everything unwanted within her.

Overall the only things left intact that are true measures of her personality is her curiosity, love and greed for knowledge, a muted anger, one-track lust, and the ability to feel absolute joy. This is the side that she presents to the world with very little of anything else left beyond flat emotions that were torn apart by Key. Without these few feelings present, her existence sucks the life out of the room and few would be hard pressed not to notice it.

Even Key though cannot fully suppress the very energy of her being that came to light the moment Matty first touched her magic in wonder. It’s an energy that has no emotion to define it, but rather… it is merely there. Every inch of her skin is touched with it and burns in her eyes with an invisible glow that could scorch the sun. Her voice though scratchy as sand paper is more palpable, her movement more empowered, her magic more real. It is the indefinable quality that completes the pieces that makes up Matty. Energy as viscous as blood but as enveloping as mist holds her together even when every neuron in her mind feels like the end could not come soon enough for her.

Perhaps though her most redeeming and damning quality she has is her intelligence. When coupled with her consumption of every bit of knowledge that she can find it isn’t unreasonable to assume that she something of a prodigy. In her uncle’s words, Matty is a clumsiest prodigy in existence. Her grasp of complex ideas in their full depth, the ability to wade through the muddy flows of puzzles and swim against the drowning currents of millennia of contradictory knowledge and come up with a cohesive idea on the fly is astounding.

Unfortunately her greatest fault is that she overcomplicates and over thinks almost everything else. Simplicity rarely is acknowledged by her. However, when she does manage to accept both the basic and the complex as being able to work together, the girl can create wonders that can stretch the imagination. Her failures though are tantamount to a large catastrophe or a baby apocalypse in the damage that they can reap both personally and locally. Many have already predicted she will die from an explosion of her own making. They probably aren’t far off.

It should be noted that Matty has a mild Eisoptrophobia, or fear of mirrors. A part of her deep inside loathes to admit that she can feel full depth of Key’s darkness lurking within any reflection.

I adore it, great job on structuring her personality! It's clear you put in a lot of thought, and I love that she now does seem her age. Well done <3 Just keep in mind to balance it really well, although she has in-depth flaws make sure she has some positive traits. Otherwise, I like it.

Appearance:
Emerald. Molten, bright, shining emerald eyes. Eyes that pierce, eyes that are too deep for their own good. Hauntingly jeweled emerald eyes with stars trapped inside. This is a common sentiment among those who see Matty for the first time. In the right illumination her eyes seem to glow but that is simple a trick of the light nothing more. The effect though is obvious, like the moon in the sky the contrast between her body and her eyes makes them appear larger and expansive than actual truth of them. Matty’s rounded heart shaped face further works to frame them like a red wood rectangle works to enhance a Rembrandt or a Da Vinci flavored in the verdant, jade or myrtle. Though nose seems to have been added in afterthought it has geared a potentially gorgeous face towards the cute and adorable side instead. Not so much of a loss but an even trade in many respects. It may be that her nose was not an afterthought but her hair was instead. It is perhaps the most unremarkable thing on her body, straight, black and barely a natural gloss. With it comes the most obvious sign of her Japanese heritage other than light squinting slant of her eyes.

She staggers many further with a sight dark muted maroon skin for those who get past the pools of her eyes. Her soft silk like skin and tone, as it shines a iridescent white under harsher light, it is hardly natural. However, with the way the girl wears it, many mistake it to be so and can appreciate it equally. But further inspection would reveal a flaw easier seen in less harsh light of candles or a lamp. Sprayed across her skin in a waterfall like effect are milky white freckles which mar her visage only in the slightest. They then condense along the sides of her ears and hair line and rain across her arms, dripping down her waist and on to her legs. Everywhere else they are much more sparse but easily discernible with keen eye and opportunity.

Despite her age, puberty has failed her in many more ways than her own aspiring intellect. Instead of growing curves and gaining an exotic beauty that should be hers by right and from birth of mixed parentage, she has been left flat and plain but not without something of her own making. Where she lacks obvious signs of womanhood or height for that matter she has managed to offset with hard work. With slight muscular build that may have ultimately attributed to her barren adolescence, Matty has been gifted with the toned marks of a martial artist and a tomboyish beauty that has been exaggerated by the force of her own personality and nature.

However lacking her physical capabilities may appear, they are anything but. Where plainness hides strength she gains in stealth and the underestimation by those who would do her harm by verbal or physical assault. Where size grants meager stature of authority and childishness, she gains in agility and speed. Matty is anything but weak. One day perhaps she’d have both beauty of the idols of her homeland and wild form of a master martial artist, but for now neither one is anything but a dream. For now Matty is Matty, the smallest one of her year at Hogwarts.

Key’s True Form:
Those who are empathic or have access to legilimency will soon learn that some minds are just too damaged to touch without consequence. Key’s roiling presence is evidence of that and anyone foolish enough to look into Matty’s mind will glimpse at the horror that awaits Matty should she ever weaken or suffer a trauma to great. Key though at first glance it is a purified form of Matty, its skin a eggshell crème color touched by light brown freckles. Its hair long and flowing naturally as if never cut and yet never longs enough to be overwhelming. Every bit of it is perfected. A balance between godlike structure and mortal imperfection, deceptively balanced. In every aspect perfectly accurate to Matty’s own real body except unharmed by years of magical accidents or transfigurement and yet it is wholly more.

Inhuman.

Key’s hair is not just hair; it’s made of a glossy black darkness, shadows given substance oppressively deep comprised of nothing more than the girl darkest impulses and depraved thoughts. So much so that it constricts the lungs and taints the soul. Its skin is more than just flesh; every bit of it is the emotional armor of rage, of rejection, of embarrassment. There is no need for clothing; it is a manifestation of the inner essence set to match an ideal, instead it gowned pure light made from the emotions it ripped from Matty’s soul in order to grant her a mask to hide with, to give her mind structure.

Its eyes though are perhaps the more horrible to behold than anything else. With of emerald but they are more than emerald, they are every painful memory that Matty has ever suffered. They bleed with depressions, seethe with lusts unsatisfied and impossible dreams never to be realized or remembered. They are emeralds so deep that they are darkness incarnate that make its hair seem like a summer day during the brightest afternoon.

That is only the first glance. The second shows its corruption on Matty’s mind, just how wounded she really is. It goes from inhuman in human form to monstrous all encompassing bleakness made bitter from feeding on unrequited affections and love discarded for safety. Every feature enlarges and exaggerates until the child’s form is no longer recognizable. Its form radiates in predatory force until everything that comprises it is a seething, formless black void given sentience. The only thing keeping it in check is a love for Matty, a desire to protect her from harm. Its void corrupts but not unnecessarily so. Its intelligence is equal to Matty’s own but it’s more childlike, regardless of the logic it employs, in its wants and desires. Simplistically it is easy to satisfy even when it feels more than Matty could ever hope to handle.

It does not know of anything other than Matty, Empaths and Legilimens will go unnoticed. If it were any other way… it would be a far more traumatic experience for those who tread in the depths of the girl’s mind.
