Name: Circe Rei Tsubasa (Sir-see, Ray, Sue-bah-sah)
Age: Fourteen
Bloodline: Half blood
Physical Appearance: A girl of half japanese heritage on her father's side, Circe shows those Japanese traits quite well. She possesses charcoal black hair, naturally straight and reaching to her shoulderblades in length, but frazzled and with various split ends, which she has almost practically given up on trying to care for. Her face has a very prominent heart shape design, with a slightly protruding chin, and high cheek bones. Her lips are very thin normally, while her glassy dark black eyes possess that slanted almond shape noting that Japanese heritage. She has very trimmed and thin eyebrows. She has a larger than average forehead, which she keeps mostly covered over by bangs, to keep people from laughing or even noticing it. Her nose is proportioned nicely to the rest of her face, with slight more accent at the bulb. Her ears are quite small, and practically always completely covered by her hair unless she has it tied up.
The rest of Circe's physique could probably be more noted to her scottish heritage from her mother's side. She has very white skin, which can easily burn and not tan, although it does tend to be a bit rosy or warm looking. Most of her skin is actually quite smooth but greasy, except when you get to her hands, they are filled with cracks and all sorts of damage and wear, making them quite rough and dry unless she is sweating at the time. Her shoulders are actually a bit broad, although quite bony. Her thin arms are an average length for her hundred fifty-five centimeter height, while her beefy legs are slightly shorter for that same height. Her hands are triangle shaped while her fingers are bony and slightly long, nails are meticuliously taken care of.
Circe's chest comes in slightly larger than the lowest B cup. Her hips and waist have much meat on them, with more accent outwards at the hips and a very small roll of fat just below her innie belly button. Her feet are size five and a half for woman's shoes in the UK. She has an odd longer middle toe than any of her other toes on both feet.
Circe always carries at least one ribbon of some color with her at all times, usually wrapped around her arm, along with the various assortment of bracelets she likes to wear. She mostly sticks to wearing jeans or pants, but don't be surprised to catch her in some cute little dress, especially for special occasions. She has on occasion put coloring streaks in her hair, most notably blues. Her ears are not pierced and neither is anything else on her, but interestingly enough she does have a tattoo of a green and blue small magpie on her left hip.
Personality: As Circe would often mention, she doesn't like placing labels on things, especially herself. However, since people best normally cope with life and situations by labeling anything she has found it as one of those necessary pains. To put Circe in the bluntest of terms, she is an inventor, a revolutionary, and a bright individual. She has an innate knack for just picking up and learning things on the spot, although it certainly doesn't make her an instant genius and expert at everything she is just a very capable quick learner. This mostly comes about through keen observations for her. She is an intelligent young woman, able to understand complex things, however she won't always speak with the same complexities. In fact she likes to infantilize expressions or explanations, especially from anyone who is trying to act witty or smarter than those around them.
Circe's intelligence lends a hand to her capability with looking at something, and seeing ways of how she can use that something. She is absolutely emersed in the idea of learning how anything works, whether it be muggle machinery, cultures, magic, or any number of things. She likes to try and recreate and copy things she has seen before, such as maybe a spell or playing the piano or any number of skills like quidditch or flying. One of the most notable features and most often expressions about her is an inquisical face and leaning forward into whatever she is watching and trying to understand or copy. One of her greatest and most exciting pass times is simply watching people do things, even the most mundane things.
She has a deep appreciation for beauty in everything around her, and she sees it all quite clearly. Possibly thanks to such keen observation skills, but she will often be walking down a hallway and just stop to look out the window at some clouds or a squirrel running by. This makes her attention very capturable, so long as she thinks she is getting something from what she is observing. Oh yes, she doesn't just blankly stare at objects for hours on end, she is constantly thinking, and imagining with whatever she is looking at. Unfortunately this deep level of thinking and imagination also makes her a bit of a day dreamer, and at times can seem like she is spacing out, even though she is still paying attention to everything around her just not responding. This imagination and observant skills make her absolutely grand for artistic feats as well as anything she can put her creative aspects to use. This makes her particularly exceptional in Potions and Transfiguration.
Don't think thats the only thing to Circe though, she is very much a free soul in the ideals of life. She believes that everyone should know the truth regardless of any consequences, she also believes people should completely be able to express themselves in whichever way they wish. This tends to make her a bit outspoken and she'll take up any cause with ease, if she believes in it. From the ethical treatment of muggleborns to the freedom of love and expression of that love or the care for owls. She has a regular energetic glow about her, but it is nothing close to being excessive. Just possibly noticeable, making her stand out a bit. She possesses very capable leadership skills and the intelligence and creativity to pull off strategies.
Circe's is not so much book smart unless its on specific subjects she has had a passion for at some point, such as Japanese, Mythologies, magical creatures, potions, or fictions. Most of her book smarts comes more from reading fictious materials than anything else. She loves any good story and can generally find good qualities in anything. This even carried over into movies and poetry.
Circe has a caring nature for most anything she comes across, this even includes people that aren't exactly nice to her. She is almost always completely respectful to everyone she knows and meets, even if they are sour or direspectful to her. She will be helpful and loyal to anyone until you give her a reason not to be. She takes betrayal and deceit very seriously, most people tend to forget that she can be quite perceptive, reading between the lines in a situation. Stemming from this caring nature, she has this deep and compulsive need to be quite protective, even if it means her taking the blunt of something. So long as she was able to protect someone or something she is fine with it. She actually takes criticism quite hard, although she might not completely show it.
Circe hates feeling cornered or pinned down, held back, or caged in anyway. Her ideal is to always be free, and to come and go as she pleases and do things as she wishes, so long as it doesn't harm anyone. She actually dives into extreme anxiety when she is feeling restrained, emotionally, physically, spiritually or situationally. One of her greatest philosophies she likes to live by is that anything is possible at any moment, and in a world filled with magic, anything can happen. The main reason she keeps an open mind.
Don't think nothing can get to her though, because she is such a free individual, she takes an extreme disliking to anyone that lives by those constraints or tries to instill those beliefs in others. One of her biggest campaigns is to stop the hate between muggleborns and fullbloods, and another is to abolish house elf slavery. She extremely dislikes anyone that thinks they are automatically better than anyone else. And isn't afraid at all to challenge those people to proof them wrong, even if its a challenge in something she hasn't done before.
Circe also has a tendency to talk to herself, or completely ignore someone and talk to herself. She likes to talk ideas out, a lot of the time, even if it's just to herself. Because of her such care-free self and not wanting to be restricted, she doesn't always follow rules, or laws, doing her own thing, for better or worse. A notable quality, she actually completely despises the use of her first name, and always prefers it when people refer to her as C, CiCi, or Sue.
Character Background: Circe was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to her Scottish mother, Kenna. Her father had been a Japanese man visiting the city and met her mother as a colleague in the profession of Anthropology teachers at a college. Her father, Taro had at first been visiting but through their deep love of Greek and Roman mythology they ended up staying together. Circe had been given her first name thanks to their love of that mythology, which she has personally hated since she was able to. Her parents married officially in Japan. Unfortunately their love didn't last, after only two years of being together after Circe had been born, they couldn't handle each other anymore, and filed for divorce with joint custody of Circe.
The poor girl spent her next eight years of life bouncing back and forward between Kyoto, Japan, where her father lived, and Edinburgh Scotland, where her mother lived. She ended up learning both English and Japanese, as well as some gaelic. Eventually picking up bits of other languages, but she went back and forward between schools and homes, despite the fact that other than cultural differences the two homes were practically the same to her. She loved the beauty and wonderful designs and stunning buildings in her time in Kyoto, most likely giving way to her observant nature as well as her ability to find beauty in anything. But she also found the open expanses and more advanced designs of the town she was in, in Scotland to be more appropriate with the advancing world.
She grew up being teased often by the kids in Scotland, and again by the kids in Japan, but by completely different things. Some times because of her mannerisms or manners, and other times because of the way she talked, or her choice of fashion. She eventually got to a point to where she just started doing things her way and that was it. For some reason, since a young age, she had just automatically accepted the existence of magic, and although would be curious, she never once actually questioned when her father or mother actually casted any magic of their own. She didn't bother to learn at the time, but both her mother and father had been purebloods, which distinct family lines. She also eventually found out that one of the reasons her parents at split up had been because of her father's ideals in that pureblood lines should remain as such, and both of her mother's sisters had married muggles or halfbloods.
Regardless of having to go back and forward between her family, she loved her parents and dealt with them. She picked up on all kinds of cultural aspects and read plenty at her father's house. While her mother actually started showing her how to cook and brew potions as well. Both of her parents became completely ecstatic when at the age of ten Circe received a letter by owl for her acceptence to the Hogwarts school. They instantly made sure to buy her everything she would need before she left, her father sending her various things as well. Despite not going to her father's again before she left for the school. Her parents had decided that she would alternate holidays between them, meaning she would see one parent for all the minor holidays of a school year then go home to the other parent for the summer, then switch this for the next year.
Circe was thrown into the magical world, luckily with some already built up knowledge as she quickly fell into place at her newest of new schools. She was glad that she wouldn't have to alternate schools anymore, although she kind of missed the idea of not being able to go for degrees in the muggle world without extra work. This subsided quickly as she experienced her first year at hogwarts though. Finding that there were all sorts of amazing things to study, she had such a hard time deciding. But she had decided that magic would be far more fun to learn than anything else. She had known about magic before hand of course, but she hadn't been fully thrown into it like she had at Hogwarts. Her father did all his major practices when she was away, and the same with her mother, other than potions. It was the one thing they had agreed on, to let her interest in magic develop naturally, and let her experience the normal world for a bit. Although her father had thought about exposing her completely to magic very quickly and getting her a head start if she was to utilize it.
Circe spent her beginning years at Hogwarts with such enthusiasm, enjoying her time and taking in all the sights that she could. There had been so much to do and see that she had never actually gotten around to very much actual socializing. She spent most of her first three years of school just observing everyone around her, wondering if she could copy somethings, and mostly staying out of people's ways. She wasn't spectacular at her magical studies but she had picked everything up quickly. The only thing she really excelled in had been Potions, although she was rising in Transfiguration as well.
It wasn't until she got back from her third summer to start her fourth year at the school up that she started looking into more social things, and now trying to get herself more involved, to see what goes on on the inside of things. This led her to delve into picking up Quidditch, as well as a number of other subjects like divination and anything else she could get her hands on. She decided to no longer just be the person that would sit and watch things unfold. She would still do that of course, she just wanted to be more involved now. Because if she didn't get more involved she was sure she would just see the same things from the same people over again.
Other:
Wand: Nine Inches, Yew Wood, Tail of a Female Unicorn Core, Flexible
Pet: Owl, Red-brown, small, named Yolanda
Special Request: (Not until Intermediate Level) Avelish: The language of birds, more specifically owls and song birds. It is a natural rare talent, wizards can be born with, many can go years and years without realizing they can actually communicate with birds directly and understand them as the voices are often just whispers in the wind. The language is most often heard as whistles or something like a noisy breeze passing by. It's unsure if this is a blood trait passed down specifically or if it just manifests randomly in wizarding families. People who can speak and understand the bird language are called Birdbrains or often times Mockingmouths. However because this wizarding speech did not have a famous wizard of Hogwarts possessing its power, it is not nearly as widely known.
Desired House: Ravenclaw
Roleplay Sample:
Tufts of night black hair folded down over white as day shoulders, as hands peeled back away from the strands. Circe then slipped her hands over the waves of hair she possessed, carefully pulling her hair up behind her head and into one hand. Her other hand flicked outward stretching the wrist straight in front of her as a daylight sky blue ribbon unfolded from her arm. She gripped onto the ribbon before forcing her hand back up to her hair and tightly wrapping the ribbon around as best as she could before tying her hair off into its ponytail. This left only her bangs hanging over her forehead.
This entire sequence of events was common for Circe, and only occurred when she was doing one of two things. She was either concocting some brilliant idea which she would have to plan up, draft over, and develop completely. Or, like in this particular case, she was about to get her hands dirty in something she had been observing. The thing she had been observing this go around, was the practicing of a team for Quidditch, on the Quidditch pitch. She was sitting cross-legged upon the grass, with a new broom her father had bought her over her summer break, next to her.
Circe folded her hands down from her head and rested them on the ground at her side, one of which caught and held onto the broom stick. There was a descent breeze in the air at the moment, which carried an ever perfect salty scent from the lake on the other side of the school castle. It was only gentle, but enough for her to have to be calculating it in how she would take off from her broom. Circe like most first years had learned how to fly already, so that wasn't the problem. What she needed to learn was how to maneuver while flying and how to properly and possibly fly without any hands on her stick. Not to mention carry a ball during that time. She had been told before she had a grace with a broom, but she had also been told she didn't have the brute force and weight or height to oppose anyone on the field or play any of the positions, except maybe one.
The reason Circe had been waiting all this time just watching, was because she had been trying to find the golden ball that had been released earlier for the current teams seeker to practice catching. The moment the ribbon had touched her hair, Circe had caught the shimmer of gold in the air. It swirled away of course, but regardless she rose to her feet now and stepped up onto her broom.
Shimmer of Gold.
There it was, another quick little appearance, and with that second appearance, Circe had a lock on it. She rocketed up on her broom and straight onto the Quidditch field despite others were practicing at the moment. Circe raced after that golden ball as quickly as she could get herself to go. It hadn't been until she had seen the ball and was chasing after it, that the seeker noticed and quickly flew after her. While everyone else on the field watched and yelled at Circe to get off the field during their practice. The yelling died down though as everyone became so intently focused on watching Circe and their team's seeker ride neck and neck after the snitch. Circe wasn't nearly as fast or capable, but with every turn of the snitch she was all over it, easily correcting herself. Which gave her the even playing field against the real seeker.
A bracelet enshrouded arm reached out in front of her broom to try and snatch away at the golden ball, but she was still a few feet from it. The seeker quickly passed right by her, however the snitch then shot up further into the air, which Circe followed. The wind rushing against her face, and her dark eyes so full of life and energy as she was leaning forward, keeping such a grand sight on the snitch.
Of course that was Circe's mistake. Her lean forward coupled with putting all her focus on trying to keep an eye of the snitch and where it was going to go, had left her to not realize the fact that she was tipping her broom forward. Before she could even realize or correct herself, she shot forward, twirling her broom nose first into somewhat of a front flip while the seeker whizzed right by her. Her broom started to sink straight down to the ground in a spinning nose dive, as she gripped as tightly as she could to the stick.
Circe hit the grass below pretty hard, letting go of her broom, which shot in one direction. The ribbon unraveled from her hair and took to the air as she came to a halt on the ground. The light blue ribbon gently floated with the wind for a few moments, slowly falling down before landing exquisitely on top of an unconscious Circe.
