They had been doing it far too long, and Sawyer knew it was ridiculous. For far too long, he had been chasing after Skylar and bringing him back to the Slytherin dormitories. It had become more of a routine thing than anything else. His green eyes flashed with concern as he nearly slipped, shifting his footing on the pathway outside of Hogwarts. It was a slow and tedious trek and it was absolutely ridiculous. Why did he keep doing this? Why did he go into Hogsmeade night after night to go and find his friend? What reason did he have to even bother? What right did he have, in all actuality? His breath came faster as he nearly dragged the other boy into the caste, praying that they wouldn't be caught.

His shirt had long been sweat stained and this annoyed the seventh year, also. A part of him wanted to leave Skylar in the middle of the entrance hall and let him be caught. It would serve him right. Skylar would be caught and perhaps he would learn some sort of lesson. Too bad Sawyer wouldn't leave him. Too bad Sawyer would keep on dragging his ass all the way to the seventh year Slytherin dorms - the same thing the young man had done a few nights ago and a few nights before that, so on and so forth. Sometimes it was even every night. Sawyer blew out another breath, thankful they had finally made it to the common room. At least here, they wouldn't get into trouble for being out past curfew. Coming up with lies for Skylar's state was also a pain. More ridiculousness and now that they were in the common room, Sawyer was once more tempted to leave Skylar in the middle of the floor and go up to bed.

But he wouldn't do this either and with another long, resigned breath, the young man shifted his friend's weight under his grasp. Sawyer helped him to the couch and laid him down, tugging a pillow under Skylar's head. Finally free of the dead weight on his muscles, Sawyer straightened and rolled his shoulders, trying to relax. Even with the lightening charm on him, Skylar was like dead weight when he was in this state - drunk and barely coherent. The snake blew out another breath, angry at Skylar for getting himself into this mess, but even more angry at himself for putting up with it. Yet, Sawyer knew he would never leave Skylar. Skylar was his best friend - had been for ages.

Best friends didn't just leave each other, not even when they were snakes and mean to the rest of the world. His blue eyes settled on Skylar, shaking his head. "You're an idiot, Sky," he sighed softly, sinking into an armchair and pulling it closer to his friend. "An absolute idiot." Almost as if he expected someone to hear him, he looked up, searching for her out of habit - when had that become a habit. Another sigh escaped his lips, watching his friend - and straightening as he noticed Skylar coming to once more.
