Shane’s nekkid.

So, technically speaking, this room wasn’t exactly open to the general Hogwarts populace. It was supposed to be for Prefects only, some such benefit of wearing a badge and roaming the castle as though they had some real authority and actually possessed the ability to make students consider behaving better in their presence. Did any of them get tired of trying to act rather proper and pretend they cared about upholding every rule? Don’t do this, don’t go there, be here by this time… In case you hadn’t quite gathered just yet – Shane Riordan did not care. Typically, he’d fall somewhere on the gray line of following certain rules while bending or ignoring others entirely. The ones most often ignored routinely involved not being in a particular spot. He extended the courtesy of respect to his professors – provided they weren’t something of a twit – but played it much closer to the chest when regarding other students that were his own age. Or younger, in a majority of cases. A fifteen-year-old telling him he needed to vacate a facility immediately? Sure, he’d get right on that. Right after whatever it was that had been set out to do was complete.

This evening, such a venture included making his way to the Prefect’s bathroom to take a dip. Their bathroom was much nicer than the one shared between his dormmates – naturally, since they were a group of teenage men – and was far more peaceful than a shared space would be. So upon entering his dormitory and noting the chaos that said dormmates had inflicted upon the room and how rowdy in general they were being for his tastes, Shane had promptly turned around and walked back out. As he had traversed the corridors, he had glanced occasionally to passers by; there weren’t many students out and about at this time of day, either late stragglers to dinner or making their way back to their common rooms. There was the random flicker of recognition in some faces he recognized as from his House, no doubt stirring a curiosity as he was clearly headed in the exact opposite direction as they.

Shane hadn’t stopped for small talk, of course. There were very few people in the castle whose presence was enjoyable on a regular basis, if at all. You might think it a lonely sort of lifestyle, but the Slytherin had been looking after himself and his own interests since a very young age. Easy to do, when your parents were not terribly interested in your existence. Rely on yourself and you couldn’t be disappointed by anyone else.

The door to the bathroom opened with a rather annoying creak, the age and heft of the door itself becoming a bit obvious. Closing it behind him, Shane was pleased though unsurprised to find the room empty – just how often did the Prefects wander to a special room to bathe? His guess was, clearly, not with much frequency. Suited his purposes just fine; less half-civil conversation that was required to be had with a stranger that was attempting to reprimand someone that didn’t much care for the reprimand. Brushing fingers through his hair, internally noting that it would be soon time for a trim, Shane stretched out his long limbs and fiddled with the same taps that he had a number of times before. He didn’t shake things up much, that was for certain. Hot water, taps third and fourth from the left. Both provided minimal bubbles – he was a young man, what did he need bubbles for? – but left him with a pleasant earthy, masculine scent.

Expecting to remain uninterrupted, the Slytherin stripped out of his clothing from the day, folding the items neatly and placing them on a chair out of the way. He grabbed a towel and placed it close to the tub’s edge so it would be within easy reach and, once testing the water to ensure it was to his standards, sunk in to its depths. A soft sigh slipped out from between his lips as the heat soothed sore muscles; Shane didn’t participate in Quidditch, though he did run on a regular basis. And overdid it from time to time. His last run must have been such one of those times, for it was his legs that were enjoying the heat most of all. Allowing himself another moment to just stand, Shane abruptly immersed himself in the water, resurfacing a second later and running fingers through his hair and over his face to rid both of excess water. As his palm passed over his cheeks and chin, he made another mental note that his hair wasn’t the only thing requiring a trim.

Though the stained glass mermaid certainly didn’t seem to mind his appearance, preening and playing with her hair as she was.

She was sore. Tired.

For Xochitl, early days typically made for longer ones, but this was fine. She had to put in the work somewhere, didn’t she? Before too long, the whole family would be picking up and heading back to Mexico for the summer. Going home was always good, but with everyone around, she didn’t get much time to practice, so she had to get it in before she left for the end of the school year.

That meant long days. That meant sore muscles and hot showers and getting up early the next day. Still sore, still tired, still so hungry for everything that her work afforded her. She had put in a lot of work today, pushing her flexibility to the next level and getting back into the silks again. It was good, and she felt good , but more importantly she felt like using the prefect bathroom because sharing a bathroom with a bunch of other females and female-identifying individuals was okay for maybe the first week of term, and then was disgusting.

Soaked in sweat and beginning to get chilly because of the coolness of Hogwarts’ corridors, the young Becerra made her way toward the Prefects’ bathroom, loose strands of her ponytail sticking to her face and neck. A quick soak in a hot bath, some light reading before bed, and that would be it before she started again the next morning.

She preferred the Prefects’ bathroom when she could get into it. It wasn’t like it was a very well kept secret, and it was a lot more enjoyable than the so-called Secluded Pool. Sometimes you could get it, and sometimes there was someone already there and you had to go elsewhere. Today, the door opened when she tried it.

Today, the bathroom was also occupied, as occupied as her mind was to stop her from realizing that the room was occupied.

“The door wasn’t- I-” she laughed lightly, hardly bothered by the sight of an unclothed boy, but still politely keeping her gaze averted and on the stained glass mermaid that she despised so. “I’m sorry, I’ll just-” Xochitl gestured at the door behind her, taking a step back toward it.

Shane’s def still nekkid.

Sitting on a built in ledge within the tub, Shane allowed his head to rest back and his eyes to close. The water was the perfect temperature for him, just the faintest hint of steam rising from the surface. It might have been just this side shy of too hot for others, but it was doing a bang up job of relaxing the stiffness felt in his limbs. Sighing softly, the boy brought his arms from the water and draped them over the ledge, allowing himself to truly lounge. Shane did not lounge, or slouch, or hunch. His posture was always proper – shoulders back, spine straight, gaze forward. Anything else just had the appearance of being sloppy as well as aiding in creating stiff limbs. Walk like you were proud to be who you were and not only would you believe it, but others would too. Made it far less likely that they would find something to pick at you about and, eventually, maybe come to respect you at least a bit.

The door creaked behind him and Shane lifted his head. Solitude was, surprisingly, somewhat hard to come by in a castle this size; there were many inhabitants, persons and magical, that could be most anywhere. It was surprising, however, that the solitude was interrupted in the Prefect’s bathroom. As already established, it wasn’t exactly a regular haunt of most of the Hogwarts population. A flash of annoyance passed over his features before it was replaced with the blank expression the Slytherin typically wore at the sound of the voice.

Alright, so the newcomer was female. He certainly wasn’t going to pose any objections.

Wading lazily to another built in seat so that he might actually see this intruder, Shane settled into his new seat. His gaze took in her somewhat disheveled appearance swiftly, deciding he would linger later on to the curves that were hinted at by her clothing. If she seemed receptive to flirting, perhaps then he would make some sort of advances and see how the night progressed from there. A smile spread on his face then, a touch friendly and a touch confident as he motioned to the rather large tub. “Plenty of space here for the both of us, I would think. I can keep to my side, if you wish, and you to yours. Can add some bubbles to the water, if coverage would ease any nerves you may have.” Given that his form was only distorted by the rippling water, adding bubbles to the mix might give her some sort of piece of mind and allow her to actually look at him fully.

Moving to the taps, Shane turned from her and arched his brow over his shoulder in question as to what ones she might like turned on. Ladies should have the choice, after all. Water droplets forged pathways down his bare back, the water coming to his hips now. “Ah, where are my manners… You may call me Shane. What might I call you, love?” Her response to this would give him some indication as to what tactics he might or might not be able to utilize to win her over. Or if she was even interested in the first place.

Xochitl joins in the nekkid?

She could practically hear her abuelita muttering something about impropriety, and her brother scoffing about her general disregard for societal expectations for girls her age, but at the older boy’s offer, she stopped. Considered. He had made the offer, right? So would it be rude not to accept it?

The muscles in her shoulders twinged at the thought of making the long trek back to the dungeons just to stand under a shower. Stand. Yeah, that was not on.

Xochitl shook her head lightly at the offer for bubbles. “Not really a bubble kind of person, it’s fine,” she assured him. “The taps you’ve chosen are the ones that I prefer anyway.” The mention of nerves did bring a small smile to her lips, though. Did her response seem like nerves? The serpent hadn’t meant for it to, as it was more along the vein of interrupting another’s private time and, well, walking in on them without clothing. Impolite, as it were.

Shane, he introduced himself. Delightfully normal, but with manners far too refined to have been a Gryffindor. One of her housemates, perhaps? Fate knew she hardly socialized, what with her work schedule and general lack of desire for the petty smalltalk that her peers so adored. “I’m called Xochitl,” she replied, a nod by way of appropriate greeting. In any other circumstance, she might’ve shaken his hand, but there was still far too much space between them for that.

Another girl might’ve swooned at being called love by such a handsome young man, might’ve fawned over the shape he was in. Xochitl’s concern was definitely getting into hot water, human bodies and attractive boys be damned. She might even go so far as to say she was... grateful? That he offered to share the space and didn't immediately demand that she leave. Grabbing another towel from the pile of them, she dropped her bag, stripping from her sweaty workout clothes with little ceremony. Modesty, truly, was for those who cared about such things, and Xochitl had never had anything to hide. Cellulite, stretch marks, the swell of her hips and curve of her stomach. Her body was her body, it took care of her and kept her alive. The least she could do was love it in kind.

The moment she sat on the little ledge under the water, a little hiss left her lips. A bit hotter than she would've chosen, but she was typically sensitive to hotter and colder temperatures anyway and, for all intents and purposes, it was his bath, and she was just a guest. Aside from that, it would help the tension beginning to settle in her upper back, the twinge of it making her frown slightly as she reached up to pull the hair tie from her dark hair.

"Thank you. Most people would've sworn or sent curses flying."

Shane’s cool gaze watched the girl as she paused, a flicker of interest hidden within them for a brief moment before it was gone again. The hesitation didn’t appear to have been surprise that he would be so bold as to dare suggest she join him, but rather seemed to be a moment to mull it over. Most girls would have at least put on a front, practically scandalized he would make such a risqué offer. They would play the song and dance of the girl pretending she couldn’t possibly before finally deciding to just join him to quiet him and onwards the night would go. No, this particular girl was joining him of her own volition. Because the draw of the hot bath apparently greater than the impropriety of sharing said bath with a naked boy. This intrigued the Slytherin just a bit more than he had previously been.

Turning away from the taps at her indication that what he had selected was perfectly suitable, Shane shifted to settle back in to the water again, arms draping over the ledge once more. His new perch was a bit higher than the previous one had been, exposing a bit of his chest to the cooler air. Relaxed in his seat as he was, his attention was still quite focused on this girl and the faint smile that tugged at her lips before she offered her name. “Xochitl,” he repeated, dipping his head and offering a quick smile. “Unique.”

Quite like her behavior, as it would turn out. It had been expected that the young woman would strip down to at least lesser clothing, but he had not been prepared for her to simply run with it and deposit every last article. Her garments he assumed had been worn during some sort of workout were now in a heap on the cool tile, the girl standing at the tub’s edge in just her skin. Not that he objected, of course. A pretty girl sharing her body – visually, at least – with him? Of what was there to complain? He didn’t bother to look away for if she had wanted privacy, she would have insisted on it. The young man would have obliged, of course; he would not push the boundaries set by others. Shane had little patience for those sorts of people. Perhaps that was why he didn’t exactly have friends, since he didn’t particularly care for his limits being tested… At any rate, he wasn’t sorry for the sight that greeted him as her clothes slid to the floor.

For the young man, there wasn’t much that was more attractive than a girl comfortable in her own skin. Confident with the body she had and its capabilities. Xochitl fit that bill quite well and it was a rather unfortunate that her curves were covered by the water as she settled in to her own seat. He wouldn’t ogle at her through the ripples, however; he wasn’t some preteen boy anxious for a little glance of something. No, he would let her be for now and see how the night continued to pan out for him. Thus far, all the signs had been rather promising. But you should never count your chicks before they had hatched.

“I reserve my tongue lashings for special occasions,” Shane quipped, letting the double entendre hang in the air. He offered her another smile as her hair fell about her shoulders. “And I don’t make a habit of hexing ladies. I prefer to treat them with a bit of respect.” He cupped the water in his hands then, letting it run down his head and face. The tension was suitably easing from his body by this point, and he let his head rest back again. “What drew you to the bath, tonight?”

“It means flower,” Xochitl explained before she could stop herself, though her tone wasn’t earnest or irritated the way it was with people who looked at her name, mangled it, then mocked her when she told them how it was said. Names held beauty and power, and to make fun of someone for theirs was one of the uglier things that you could do. Shane, though. Even if he hadn’t meant it, there was something about the way her name sat in his mouth, rolled from his lips. A flicker of interest sparked in her, like the flame of a small candle perched on a windowsill.

There was a quiet comfort in the casual feeling of it all, the way he didn’t look away but also didn’t stare. She was so used to limited clothing, having grown up on a lake, so to be around someone who wasn’t bothered by her nudity of confidence in it was… Hm. Pleasing. Pleasing was a good word for it. The double entendre was not lost on her at all, Xochitl allowing herself the slightest of eyerolls accompanied by a small smile. Boys would be boys, she supposed.

Pulling her hair over one shoulder, she carded her fingers through the wet ends, watching the way the dark strands floated in the water. The young woman perked up slightly at the question, cocking her brows for a second before letting out a soft uhmmm on her exhale, as if formulating what she was going to say.

“Weight training and flexibility conditioning.” That was simple enough, wasn’t it? More often than not, most people were concerned with such things as Quidditch, or soccer, the rarer football -not futbol, but the American kind. More abstract sports like ballet or acrobatics weren’t really thought of with the same respect, scoffed down or simply ignored. It was this reason that she had long since avoided divulging information about her studies to her peers: there just weren’t people around her that could appreciate her passion. “I’m a gymnast, and an acrobat by trade primarily. Unfortunately, that leads to a lot of muscle soreness, no matter how flexible you are, and the showers in the Slytherin dormitory just don’t cut it most of the time.”

The initial sting of the water’s heat was beginning to fade away as she got used to it, though the temperature still caused a flush to rise in the visible parts of her fair skin. “What about you?” she asked, scooping water up and letting it drain over her freckled shoulder. “You seem too dignified to play Quidditch with the hooligans we’re so blessed to call our peers, so I doubt it’s that. Chased by one too many lionesses, perhaps?” A soft smile quirked her lips at the coy, sarcastic tone that danced with her words, the slight cant of her head inquisitive but just as cheeky.
