Do you have more than one character? If yes, did you get permission to make this one, and from which admin?: Yep, Robin.

Appearance: this is my last curly haired child, I swear.

Your smile is your best asset.

Because, you see, Luca is good at making people like him but awful at letting people know him.

Luca learned early on in life that a smile often gets you the farthest in life. Always smile at the shopkeeper; they might offer you a discount if you happen to miss the last few sickles you need. Smile at the teachers; they won’t suspect the polite and friendly kid when it comes down to it. Smile at your enemies; nothing unnerves them more than not being able to turn people against you.

Friends is a very broad term for Luca anyway.

He doesn’t really remember spouting angry words or insults to someone’s face ever, as his smile is his barrier. He will sport a grin over his gritted teeth when the situation calls for it, as well as try his best to keep the corners of his lips upturned even while his eyes sting. His mother was always there to tell him to look his best to the outside world. Not only his mother did though: after a long day of work, limbs sore from helping out on the farm, his whole family would sit at the table and laugh as they passed around food from one end to the other. All Luca had to do was mimic what he saw.

Deep down the kid does yearn for the feeling of friendship, but is just unable to make it happen. Awfully aware that every favour or kind gesture is done to get gain out of it afterwards, the boy doesn’t know how to make his feelings feel genuine. He tries, but is usually just left with an awkward smile at any sort of interaction usually attributed to friendships for kids his age.

Every family member taught him that hard work is important; it is part of what made his family as wealthy as it is. Yet is isn’t everything. in the wizarding world still largely dominated by pureblood families as old as magic itself, connections are what get you on top. Favours is what people won’t forget about, and these words got adopted by Luca as if it was a lullaby sung to him every night. He likes doing favours for others around him. Seeing them happy and smile is always a bonus, but what really matters is how they will remember. They will extend their hand if he ever needs help, will spread the word of his generosity all around Hogwarts. And when his graduation from Hogwarts finally arrives, he’ll know that even without any experience he’ll still kick it pretty far out there in the real world.

Luca isn’t just out for his own gain, however, as family will always come first. Summer is still his favourite season, as he gets to spend two months at home surrounded by his cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and grandmother. He works hard on the field without complaints, and made sure to learn an Episkey soon enough to mend cuts for his younger family members. Essentially he grew up with a weird sort of big brother instinct while being the only child. Because most of his cousins are girls, Luca also feels more comfortable with girls rather than boys. Then again, one could argue it isn’t about the girls. After all, at Hogwarts it’s easier to find him among other family members than a little group of friends on his own.

As an outside activity he mostly focuses on quidditch, as Luca sports quite a competitive nature. He loves to play, even as a child he would drag his cousins into little games whenever he could. At Hogwarts, however, the thrill of winning grew since there was more at stake than just the last leftover piece of apple pie (usually already eaten by one uncle or another by the time the kids were back on the ground. He doesn’t plan on playing professionally, but winning every now and then surely doesn’t hurt.

He learned the words for grandma, aunt and cousin before the word dad. There was never really a use for it anyway.

Luca grew up on the countryside just outside of Sudbury. Endless meadows every muggle seemed to get lost in while his family worked on the field without a bother. The Holmwoods are more famous than most people even know. After all, every Hogwarts student gets a taste of their famous pumpkin juice for seven whole years, often without realizing. It's a family business, owned by Luca's grandmother Estelle, after his great grandmother's use of magic became a bit too unpredictable to rely on anymore. And let's not talk about her life choices.Their family didn’t get to be as wealthy as they were thanks to pumpkin patches though. It did bring in most of the revenue, especially during the early days when agriculture was a main source of income. You see, although they never had a past of dabbling in the dark arts, a big part of their fortune does find it roots there. Their value -safely outside of the controlling claws of Gringotts- are open to other families, as one can easily start loans for just about whatever they want. Holmwood money often rings on tables full of dark wizards.

Anyway, Most of his family still lives on the farm, a big cottage made up of several storeys and a whole lot of bedrooms. After all, most Holmwoods don't really leave their nest after getting married, their family just moves in and a few extra chairs are transfigured on the dinner table.

His mother never left either. Then again, she never really got married.

The result of a short lived relationship, Luca grew up as a bundle of wheat curls among heads as bright as the pumpkins in their fields. On its own that wasn't a big deal, it was weirder to not have any other siblings like his cousins had, or how he grew up as a boy between all the braids. Before you ask, he never got the hang of braiding the other's' hair. Instead he knew the names of every famous quidditch player, not based on their skill level but their good looks. In the end he did get to play quidditch and rather enjoyed it too, enough family members around to form small teams.

Most families only experienced numbers that big during celebrations, but for the Holmwoods every dinner felt like a Christmas eve.

Just like the other kids, Luca learned to be a helping hand at the farm even though, like most of the others, he wasn’t allowed to use magic just yet. With a family as big as theirs, house elves had always been out of the question. The kids folded an endless string of laundry after playing pirate, hauled the smaller pumpkins into wheelbarrows as harvest season arrived, and even helped out with the meals if their fingers weren’t too busy with a little too much taste testing. It was apparent how complaining about the food choices for the day were useless, just like keeping track of your clothes after they disappeared into the laundry bin. Luca would often sport sweaters a few sizes too big, or found tanktops in his closet too flowery to be his own. The stairwells in the Holmwood household were a busy highway, in every direction imaginable. Items would go flying in between storeys, not always with the best intentions.

Communication by owl within the household was overruled by his great grandmother in the late ‘70s, however. They still haven’t been able to drag answers out of aunt Gloria to this day, no matter how much they bribe her with Swiss chocolate.

The Sorting Hat is placed on your head. What are you thinking at that moment?: Does being in a different house mean I cannot sit with my cousins? They are everywhere, please don’t ask me to choose!........w-Wait!....Isabel is my favourite.
