Do you have more than one character? If yes, did you get permission to make this one, and from which admin?: Yep, Stells approved me <33

Appearance: Whatever you do, don’t call Baz short. Though he stands at a teeny five foot nine, his aura and the way he carries himself makes up for whatever he lack in physical stature. Though his ultimate goal is to have a body full of rippling muscles, right now he’s skinnier and more toned. His hair is a shade of dark blonde that he keeps closely trimmed and combed over and his eyes are harsh shade of blue, constantly searching and looking for things to claim as his own. He tends to keep himself impeccably trimmed, knowing that it's a routine that he's going to have to get into some day if he intends to take over his half of his father's store, Borgin and Burkes. Because of this, he tends to be mostly clean shaven, though occasionally he's more than happy to let his facial hair grow out a bit.

Personality: Baz isn't exactly the nicest of guys. Not to say that he can't be nice, but it's never really been a default setting for him. Coming from the well-to-do Borgin family, and raised in wizarding high society, he can't help but look down on those who didn't have the same lifestyle. Money is of utmost importance to him, far more than blood status could ever be, and he is more than happy to relieve those less attached to their coins of it. Growing up in a shop in Knockturn Alley, half-owned by his family for years, it's not wonder that the boy became an expert salesman and shopkeep.

Baz is an only child, so he always knew he was the only choice to take over his half of Borgin and Burke's from his father. Because of that, he's always had somewhat of a sense of entitlement, even from a young age. Whenever something would go poorly for him, he would strike an indignant pose and say "Don't you know who I am?" He believes that anything can be his for the right price or with enough ingenuity to steal it away from someone, but he knows better than to ever let anyone know just how valuable or worthless something really is. With his silver tongue and devilish good looks, it's often quite difficult for people to say no to him.

That being said, he's not a con artist. He's not the type of person to sell fake medallions to bring luck or the like. He enjoys real things with real history and would never sully his family's name by peddling cheap knockoffs or placebo artifacts.

Baz isn't often found too far away from his other half - no, not his girlfriend, but rather his future business partner, Reina Burke. From childhood, they were raised together, knowing full well that they were going to run the store together. Every aspect that Baz lacks, Rey compliments perfectly. They're a formidable pair, and God help anyone who gets in their way. Though he knows that Rey is more than capable of taking care of herself, Baz is more than happy to finish any fight she deems unworthy of her time. In that way, he's more of a faithful guard dog than a business partner at this point, but Borgin men have always held Burke women in high regard - and Baz was no different.

As with most male-female friendships, the big question is always whether or not there's feelings between the pair of them. Baz is always quick to reassure everyone that they are platonic. They are best friends, they are business partners, and there's nothing else to it. Of course, that isn't to say that Baz isn't incredibly critical of Rey's suitors. If someone is too poor, or too unrefined, or too stupid, Baz makes sure to ask them politely, yet firmly, to buzz off. He knows that Rey only deserves the best and he won't allow anyone less to pursue her. Of course, his overprotectiveness starts rumors and, well, if Baz is able to be honest with himself, he doesn't mind people believing them.

Of course, Rey isn't the only woman in Baz's life. He likes to play it fast and loose when it comes to dating, never letting anyone get too close or sink their claws in too deep. He knows someday he'll have to find a nice woman to settle down with so he can continue the Borgin legacy, but he's already got the number one woman in his life. A wife can come later.

Despite Baz's... other habits, he is actually a decent student, focusing on Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, and Arithmancy to help him better understand the curses and charms he knows he'll have to deal with later. Other classes are boring to him - as if he'd ever need to sell a flobberworm or venomous tentacula - and he dropped them as soon as he was able.

Character Background: Borgin and Burke's may not be the household name that store owners dream of having, but to those who have more specific needs for buying and selling more curious items, it's always been the go-to. Thus was the case, a century and a half ago, when Sebastian Borgin first opened the shop with his business partner, Tisiphone Burke. They each passed down their half to their respective children, Bastian and Io, who in turn passed their halves down to their respective children, Bazian and Xanthe. Like all Borgin men, Bazian had a deep respect and affection for his Burke partner, but like all Borgin men respect and affection is as far as it went. Xanthe found a husband, and Bazian found a wife.

Naceae Vernal was beautiful and kind and not at all like most pureblood women. Bazian was head over heels, and they married soon after meeting. Life was bliss for the pair, and soon they discovered they were going to have a baby. They were ecstatic, spending all their free time preparing for their little one.

Unfortunately, labor isn't easy, and Bazian traded his wife for a son, who he named Baz. Bazian was heartbroken. Instead, he threw himself into his work and his partnership with Xanthe, who was there for him through it all - and some time later, he returned the favor after the death of Xanthe's husband. Of course Bazian knew things weren't so savory between them, but Borgins were smart men, and smart men knew not to tick off a Burke woman.

As Baz grew up, he started spending more and more time with Reina, his future partner. It never occurred to him how strange it was that his entire life was planned before he could even walk, that he and Rey would take over the company when Bazian and Xanthe both made the decision to retire, that Rey would be his partner for the rest of their lives, and yet somehow, they would still marry and have a family to continue the line. But despite a rocky start, she came to be his best friend, his teddy bear, his safety net. Even now, at eighteen, he still sleeps better when he knows she's close by.

When your family has been a prominent purveyor of privately procured products for more than one hundred and fifty years, you develop a strong sense of internal value, and Baz was no different. He started spending time in the shop every day from a young age, helping organize the mess, and helping sell things. Somehow, people rather enjoyed speaking with a small child who could direct them to cursed jewelry or hard to find potion ingredients and he became a popular fixture in the store. So much so that the boy was actually distraught to discover that his Hogwarts letter had come and he would going away to some boarding school for most of the year. At least Rey would be going with him, making the whole thing much more palatable.

Once he got to school, he quickly discovered that just because he wasn't in the store anymore didn't mean he couldn't still buy and sell things for a profit. Using ingenuity and a willingness to disappear into Hogsmeade and London, he quickly discovered that he could obtain items that would fetch a pretty penny to the right buyer, and that people often had far more interesting items than they let on. He spends his days studying, searching for items or sellers that he can use to send back home, or lounging away his days with Rey. He looks forward to the future when the pair of them will be in charge and they can make every decisions for themselves. It may be telling, the way he can only consider his future in relation to her, and not with some random pureblood wife, but he supposes that that'll change when he actually meets someone he could marry.

The Sorting Hat is placed on your head. What are you thinking at that moment?: “Look hat, if you weren’t already singing where I should go the second you heard my name, I think you might not be as valuable as people think. How much do you suppose you’d go for in my father’s shop? I bet there’s some collectors that’d pay a pretty penny for something like you.”
