OOC Announcement, Read me!
Welcome to staff’s Summer 2018 event! Hogwarts staff thought the students could use a fun game of paintwand to blow off some steam after the exams – so ICly, this event takes place in June, after finals but before going back home for the summer holiday. The Pink Lady announced the game on Saturday morning at breakfast in the Great Hall, after which chaos immediately broke out there. There’s a MAIN THREAD for the Great Hall, which you are free to join, but you may also start your own thread(s) in the event forum and have your character(s) freely running around and playing the game anywhere in the castle. Just SIGN UP HERE and make sure to read HOW TO PLAY THE GAME HERE. The Pink Lady's IC Announcement can be found HERE.
You can hit other students with the simple "Coloro" spell, which will make paint shoot out of your wand and at your target. The Pink Lady has also hidden pink paint vials around the castle and under the tables in the Great Hall, which you can stumble upon as you please. You can use these like grenades instead of shooting with your wand for variety.
If your character gets hit, please update your sign-up post to let us know they are “dead” in the game. Of course, your character is really only hit by paint – but being hit means you’re out of the game. Only one person will be considered the winner – the sole survivor at the end. There’s no rush though, you may post at your own speed, because if multiple people are still “alive” at the end of summer term, staff will throw dice rolls for the remaining survivors to determine the winner. You can of course still continue your threads after that as if nothing happened, you just won’t be in the running for the prize anymore.
There is an IC prize for winning the game. The winning character can choose between A) a time-turner, B ) an invisibility cloak, or C) a magic carpet. The winner may use their chosen object all through-out Fall Term, after which it will lose its magic (so for example, the invisibility cloak is just a cloak enchanted with an invisibility spell, not the real Deathly Hallow – which is the only invisibility cloak that would never lose its magic).
If you have any questions that aren’t covered here or in the HOW TO PLAY topic, you can always ask a staffer.
And of course... Have a good time!
