Some people felt at home in a house, on a house, on a broom, in the castle, with friends, or even swimming in a lake, but Liam felt most a home when he was surrounded by animals or plants. For this reason, the eagle felt that walking into the owlery was amazing. It was relaxing, refreshing, and it was a place where the young man could walk away from the world and just forget about things for a little while as he talked to the birds, played with them or brought them treats. It was a time when the eagle could forget the essays that he was working on, the puzzling nature of the world around him - people drove the boy crazy, with their emotional roller coasters - and he could breath again, forgetting all the demands that the world had of him socializing with others.

The teen walked across the owlery, a floorboard squeaking beneath his weight - which was odd for the lanky boy - and as he moved, a brown owl came and landed on his shoulder. Liam grinned - this owl had become his friend in the last few weeks, and had even taken to bringing Liam a treat, such as the dead mouse that was hanging from his beak at the moment. The eagle's laugh filled the room with the dozens of flapping wings and the eyes that were watching his every movement. "Thanks, bud," he spoke softly to the owl, in a kind and gentle fashion. Stopping at the window sill ledge that overlooked the school's grounds, he shifting to sit on the ledge, his fingers still stroking the birds' feathers softly. Carefully, with his free hand Liam took the owl's catch of the day and put it on the floor next to his foot. He leaned his left shoulder against the wall and sighed happily as his fingers continued to stroke the bird on his shoulder.

A loud screech brought Liam's attention back to reality and he looked around, careful not to bump the owl on his shoulder. The long dreadful noise of another owl had caught most of the owlery's inhabitants by surprise. Liam stood, his brown feathered companion taking off into the air. His eyes fell onto a bird that was just coming into the owlery above him and he took a step, calling out, "Come're, little one. Are you alright? Your wing looks hurt, can I see?"

He talked softly to the bird - trying to coax it down from the rafters above. He outstretched his hand, trying to gesture to come down. After a few moments of gentle coaxing, the black feathered owl jumped and tried to fly, but did more of a falling maneuver instead. Liam moved quickly, catching the bird in his outstretched arms and gently tucking it into his chest, trying to be aware that the bird probably was quite hurt at the same time.

Though Nadia liked all animals, more than people, to be truthful, the Ravenclaw had to admit she did play favorites. If given the choice, she would always go for the Black Lake, or any body of water for that matter, in search of animals over the lands or the skies. The sea was simply in her blood, it seemed, the scent of saltwater still so fresh on her skin despite the years it had been since she’d last dipped into a small corner of the boundless ocean.

But even so, Nadia still appreciated all the lovely creatures that frolicked in the woods, from the large, beautiful horses in the stables, to all the little critters that hid in the trees that surrounded the castle. The strange and dangerous magical creatures that were said to roam across the Forbidden Forest on the edge of the grounds were even more alluring. Nadia had ventured there more than once, hoping to catch some glimpse of fae or centaur...

Today’s adventure was not so risky, however. Because of the harsh winter weather, all of Nadia’s usual sojourns had been contained to those within castle walls. It was a terrible situation to be in, especially for someone who had grown up in tropical weather, so she’d been retreating as much as she could to the Owlery all season-long. It was the only place where she could still find some peace with her animal friends without freezing off all her toes in the process. With a bag of owl treats in hand, Nadia skipped up the steps. She had brought a roll of parchment with her too, tucked away in her bag, so she could write a letter back home amidst the owls.

When she arrived and swung open the door, however, it appeared someone had the same idea and was already playing with the owls. As soon as Nadia stepped closer though, she realized that the person was not playing at all, but helping a tiny hurt bird! Quickly rushing closer, she nearly dropped the bag of owl treats she had in hand as she rushed to help as well, fingers brushing over the strange boy’s larger ones as she stroked the soft feathers, trying to see the wound.

Frowning in worry, she followed the trail of tiny blood stains to a small cut along the bird’s limbs. Her frown deepened at the sight, and Nadia wondered what she could do, when she abruptly remembered the boy in front of her. Lifting her head to look at the unfamiliar boy, Nadia mouthed, as clearly as she could, ‘Do you have bandages?” Hopefully he understood, because the Ravenclaw only had a single roll of parchment with her instead of her usual sketchpad since she had not expected company here.

Liam was not good with people. This was why he chose to spend his time among animals when he felt like he was lonely. They were easier to understand. Some would say that a the different language would be difficult - that it was like the difference between an adult and a baby where the one taking care of the baby couldn't just ask what was wrong and give them that thing - they had to go about things trial and error to figure out what the child needed. In this respect, Liam felt that it was the same with animals and in a lot of ways it was. He used trial and error if a creature needed his help. That was true for this tiny black bird that had landed in his arms.

Shifting to hold the owl carefully, he examined any part of the bird that could be hurt. Just as he was finding the limb that had the blood stain on it's feathers, Liam's vision was blocked by the head of the girl that had swarmed in and was now examining the animal in his arms. He gave a soft, uncomfortable sort of noise, shifting on his feet. What did the girl think she was doing, anyways? Wasn't it clear that Liam was taking care of this? Still, the girl was clearly ignoring him and her full attention was on the bird in his arms.

Gingerly he shifted the owl so she could see better - at least it could be said that this newcomer wanted to help the owl. Some girls ran away at the sight of blood. Other people ran when they thought they would be useless in these types of situations. Other more disappeared once they figured out that a creature would actually need their attention and affection. Liam sighed, irritation with those types of people were a common theme for the seventeen year old.

Finally, the young woman seemed to be satisfied with checking out the bird - or remembered that he was there and Liam gently pulled away from her, talking the owl to the ledge that he had sat previously. His bag was there and he was sure that with a few spells, he would have some bandages for the black bird in his arms. "I got it covered," he spoke, glancing over his shoulder to the girl that was watching him, before turning his attention back to the owl that needed it.
