Dear person,

Lost: One pair of gloves, well-worn and child sized, with sentimental value and bite marks. Last seen in library two days ago, on the table in the back corner near the windows.

Any idea where they are?

Dear Tam,

You lost your gloves, too? I've lost three pairs this year! It's horrid when you're searching the entire house common room to find them the morning before a trip to Hogsmeade when it's been snowing the past two days and you absolutely cannot find them.

Um....I don't spend too much time in the library since it's boring and quiet and I tend to accidentally fall asleep, so I wouldn't have really seen them, sorry. I'll keep an eye out for them, though. What color are they?

-Abigail

P.S.: Have you thought about asking the house elves? Or a Ravenclaw?

Dear Abigail,

I hate to admit it, but I'm kinda worried that I lost them. I have another pair lying around somewhere in my trunk, but the pair I lost had particularly sentimental value.

They're blue. I think they may have fallen out of my bag (I just found a hole in it!), so now I think I'll have to search the ENTIRE castle. Anyways, it would be great if you could keep an eye out for them, thanks.

-Tam

P.S. No, I haven't actually! I'll have to try and do that.

Dear Tam,

Well, since they're special gloves, I can understand your need to find them. I have a few things I would absolutely hate to lose because they mean a lot to me.

This calls for an adventure! A serious one with a serious goal, of course, but an adventure all the same. Can I call it the Case of the Missing Blue Gloves? Or is that too ordinary?

You should probably get that hole fixed before you lose anything else through it, though.

-Abigail

P.S.: I definitely find the house elves extremely useful when looking for lost items. They're so nice, besides...if a little shy at first.

Dear Abigail,

An adventure, hm? I'm always up for an adventure! The Case of the Missing Blue Gloves. Sounds like they were stolen by some dastardly villain, haha. But I like it! I suppose we should start in the library...or maybe in the common room.

My bag's fine now, mostly. The tear was nothing that couldn't be fixed with a simple reparo.

--Tam

P.S. I can't seem to catch any house elves. They're so fast! Maybe I'll catch a Ravenclaw instead...

Dear Tam,

Oh! For retracing your steps we of course must go backwards! How else could it be done? And who knows who has the gloves now! We must keep watch for such a craven foe. I hear those dust bunnies can be quite the villainous creatures.

Got to love those quick spells. If only there was one to help you find lost gloves now, things would be perfect.

-Abigail

P.S.: It'd probably be easiest to find those elusive Ravenclaws in their natural habitat: the library. But be careful, they could attack when cornered and their defensive lectures can get quite nasty.

Dear Abigail,

Backwards, of course! Err, as long as we won't have to walk backwards. Last time I tried that I had bruises on my head for a week. The dust bunnies must have set a trap for me! Who knows what they are doing to my poor gloves.

Oh, that reminds me. I tried accio on the gloves too, but nothing happened. Yet another twist in the Case of the Missing Blue Gloves!

--Tam

P.S. Hm, on second thought, maybe I'll just go check the kitchens. The house elves cluster there, so I should be able to catch one despite their speed.

Dear Tam,

Well, if it's too much for you, I guess we can tweak the rules and walk face-forward, but know that I do not fully approve. We'll have to keep a very close watch so those horrid things don't ambush us, as well. If it's a trap for you, though, the gloves are probably safe for the moment, so we're okay on that front...still, we should find the gloves as quickly as possible.

And if accio doesn't work, I don't know what would. Guess we'll have to do this the old-fashioned, muggle way. Let me find my Sherlock Holmes hat and bubble-blowing pipe. We shall solve this case right straight.

-Abigail

P.S.: See if they have any freshly baked cookies while you're down there.

Dear Abigail,

How about we walk sideways? Like crabs! That's a good compromise, don't you think? And it will confuse the dust bunnies, too. How about I meet you in the library? After all, that is the scene of the crime as it last occurred! I'll bring my magnifying glass and monocle--for the atmosphere, of course.

--Tam

P.S. Will do!

Dear Tam,

Sounds like a decent compromise. We’ll definitely throw those dust bunnies for a loop with it at the least. I’m heading to the library right now. See you there!
