Pippa has been much too busy studying art in Italy or working on perfecting her business to be concerned with the war. Additionally, she is rather normal/average in her magical skills aside from Charms and would not make a great spy/soldier/assassin. She is rather good at painting and sewing, but doesn’t think these help win wars.
Physical Appearance:
In the years since Hogwarts, Pippa has changed little in her appearance aside from her constantly changing hair color. During summer months it tends to be more strawberry blonde while during the winter it is a deep auburn, almost brown. Her green eyes seem to have faded from their intense clover color to a darker forest green over the years. This could be because of the constant bags and wrinkles surrounding her tired windows to the world or simply because of a charm she used daily back in her school days to enhance the color, but a lady never reveals her secrets. They are still however rimmed in gold.
She is still rather short, but has gotten used to this fact and instead of trying to compensate with high heels wears mostly flats and tennis shoes, but only in the studio. Most of her days are spent covered in oil paints or elbow deep in tulle so comfort is more important than style while working. Somehow the retired Slytherin always manages to look amazing, no matter what she is wearing. Perhaps it comes with the territory of being a fashion designer and artist or it’s due to her Veela blood, but the girl is always beautiful. When she goes out at night, she dresses in her best clothes and high heels. Skirts are still used as a tool for attracting members of the opposite and same sex, but it is more as an invitation to start a conversation about her business. While networking, the witch considers it well to look her best.
Personality:
Love looks good on Pippa Fitzpatrick. Since reuniting by accident with Christopher Whitley in Italy ---, the witch has fallen back completely in love. While she is exhausted from long hours in her studio, a smile pops back on her face the moment she steps foot into her boyfriend’s flat. It is something she had been waiting years for and had almost given up. Over the years, she became resilient to the taunting voices in her head and the imagined ones of those who seemed to doubt the love she had for Christopher and the love he had for her. It wasn’t anything she could describe. What was it they really had anyway? A few months at the end of their seventh year and a single summer. It wasn’t really much to write home about, but she never gave up hope in love. It drove her passion for art and it became her pain spilling onto canvas. Perhaps without that heart ache, without that longing need for something more she wouldn’t have become the artist she is today.
Thrown completely into her work and studies directly following school, her greatest trait became hard work. She would often paint for eight or nine hours a day before spending another five or six hours working with fabric. She might catch sleep then or simply wander around Rome looking for inspiration. It was when she was about 19 that Pippa became a full-fledged insomniac, often not sleeping for days or even weeks. She would finally crash and sleep for 45 hours straight before repeating the whole cycle again. It was perhaps her pain or her obsessive need for perfection that took away her sleep, but insomnia is something that seems to have followed her. She’s better than she used to be, but she will occasionally disappear for 3 or 4 days and emerge with a new masterpiece. Trips seem to cure her insomnia. She works entirely too hard and falls into regular routine away from work.
Aside from a few new personality quirks, Pippa is more or less the same girl from Hogwarts. She has a tendency to be judgmental towards others, but other things have completely changed. In Italy, she didn’t jump from boy to boy and since reuniting with Christopher she hasn’t looked at another man. She was never a cheater to begin with but has become a much different person. If she could have been described as “loose” in school, she is a perfect lady now, at least outside of her private life. To the public she is well-mannered and well behaved, but behind closed doors she is whatever she wants to or needs to be. Whatever she has to be to get through Christopher’s moods and his mannerisms. But whatever she has to be, it’s worth it because she loves him so the fluctuating is just fine for her.
History:
Studying in Italy with Christopher by her side following graduation were eighteen of the most happy months a girl could ask for. Struggling through her love for him and finally having him with her made Pippa an extremely happy girl. Her art took on a decidedly bright tone, everything covered in sepia and gold as if the whole of the happy world was at her disposal. She perfected her landscape abilities and moved on to portraits, a subject that had always frightened her. When Christopher disappeared into the night, she was left in a true darkness. Her paintings from the period are cast in gray and blue and reflect her pain. Occasional splashes of red reflect her anger, but overall, it was a great time of exploration in her work.
She worked with fashion designers her mother knew and finally created her first wedding dress, featured on the main page of a magical fashion magazine. She continued to turn out creation after creation, painting and studying interior design in her spare time. It was during these years she became a workaholic: obsessed with work and deprived of sleep. Her insomniac tendencies continue to follow her to this follow.
During her separation from Christopher Whitley, the redhead managed to casually date and remained close to the wizard’s mother. It was for Christmas two years following their split that the witch saw him again. She heard the doorbell ring; she heard Cecilia greet him and then was instantly overwhelmed with seeing him again. Her own family divided on various issues including her older brother’s death and parents’ bitter divorce, Cecilia and Thomas became the closest thing she had to family and their proximity to her Rome home certainly helped. A reunion was the only possible explanation and just as she’d promised to do some long before, she was waiting for him when he finally decided he could accept the responsibility of having her in his life.
After completing study with her master artist the following spring, she returned to London, partially with Chris. Opening up shop on Diagon Alley, she began painting family portraits, designing rooms and dresses for many interested British patrons. Still not speaking to the majority of her family, the witch quickly reunited with friends and dealt very privately with her love’s frequent disappearances.
Finally, Christopher settled down, choosing to buy a flat in London and promptly invited Pippa to move in. She maintained her own residence for her business, but made his home her home as well. Six months after the new arrangement was put into place, he got down on one knee, presented a pink diamond, and made all the promises she had been longing for so long to hear. She is currently designing their wedding, working full-time, and waiting for the fall out from Chris’s lack of wanderlust. She knows little of what he does these days and doesn’t ask as many questions as she should.
The former Slytherin’s mind often jumps from crazy idea to ridicules accusation, but nothing ever falls from her lips. He stays out of trouble as far as she can tell and he’s home when she returns from a hard day’s work. It’s all she dares to ask for the moment, but slowly she’s getting braver. The war scarcely weighs on her mind and has little effect on her daily life and she plans to keep it that way.
Special Abilities / Other:
Besides a great talent at portrait painting and the “go to” portrait artist for the rich and powerful, Pippa has the ability to design and create gorgeous couture gowns. Other than the aforementioned skills, she is rather “normal” in the magical world. However, she is a ¼ Veela, but it’s something she doesn’t really even notice. Certainly it has a small influence on others, but she’s never really tried to use it to her advantage in her adult years.
Additionally, she is further slated to paint the official portrait of the new Minister of Magic, among many other commissions for wizarding elite.
