Welcome to Wizarding Realm! We are a Harry Potter AU role play site. Presently, our post-a-thon is wrapping up and we've got a bonfire in its stead, and we all know what happens when there's a lot of students and a lot of alcohol. DRAMA. That's what happens. Yes it is.
When registering, please make sure you sign up with a full first and last name, properly capitalized. If you make a mistake, it's not a big deal - an admin can help you fix that right up. =]
Make sure you have fun, and enjoy your stay at Wizarding Realm!

Let's get down to business. D I S C L A I M EREveryone at WR is human. Everyone screws up once in a while. Administrators and moderators are no exceptions to the rule. If you feel we have made a mistake, please approach us respectfully, preferably via a private medium. If you want to be git though, and mouth us off, your account will likely be suspended or banned, however long we see fit. We work hard to keep WR running smoothly and we don’t need uncalled for rudeness from anyone.
The above rule applies not only to the moderation team but also to other members. Please be polite and respectful to everyone. Keep disagreements private and discussions rational. PM us if you have problems with each other, don’t expose your arguments to the rest of the board.
While our rules may sound intimidating, we won't bite you for making minor mistakes. We are NOT out to punish good RPers who, like all members, are human and sometimes make mistakes. Don’t flip out if a mod PMs you asking you not to use colour in your posts. It's not a big deal. We don’t hate you. Relax. T H E G O L D E N R U L E See the disclaimer and also the Etiquette thread. Summary: Respect. R E G I S T E R I N G When first registering here, you absolutely must have a first and last name. No numbers, no awkward symbols like _ or ~. An acceptable name would be Leonard Sullivan, not JonSmith4TW. Also, variety in names is highly appreciated. I mean, having like, 5 James' gets confusing, yeah?
Valdiation on WR is via email. That means that, when you sign up with a character and a fake email address, you'll forever be in the validating group. What's a good idea? Along with signing up with a real name, sign up with a real email.
The only way you are allowed a second character is with permission from Sundari Harmony. She will evaluate your participation on the site and determine if you should be allowed to have one. If you are caught having a second account when you don't have permission, you will be banish-ed. Like in Romeo and Juliet. A P P L Y I N G Please do not post anywhere but the sorting area after you've been validated. Reading through posts is fine, but posting in roleplay posts won't be allowed until we've got you in a House. If you want conversation, PM is always there. Also, please have your sorting form ready and filled out when you post it. It just saves us frequent checks back to see if you've updated it or not.
PMing the admins to sort you won't get you sorted faster, we'll most likely ignore it if it's been less than a week. Yeah……it's not nice.
Also: special requests won't be available until you reach intermediate level (see the Workshop), and your character can be any year you want, at any time. You may only make an "adult" or "professor" character as your second character. We would like to see how you RP a student before we allow another adult running around here ... P O S T I N GEach of your posts must be at least four good quality sentences. This pertains to all your senses, frankly---mentioning your taste, the smells around you, what you see, what you feel, etc easily compose a paragraph. Emotional growth is something every role player should try to write about in their posts, and that can take up a paragraph itself.
No colored fonts are allowed in posts. This is because of the different skins we have on the site, and some colors can't be seen against the skins others might be using. Keep this in mind while you roleplay, because you will be warned if you don't follow this rule. Usage of correct spelling and grammar is especially important while roleplaying. If you know you're a bad speller, try typing RP posts in Word or another text editor so it can spellcheck for you. If you need help, take a look at the topics in the Workshop forum.
When responding in an RP topic, do NOT simply copy what the person before wrote in italics or something of the sort. Find a creative way to respond, such as "Harry nodded at what the person said about Transfiguration. 'I know, it is so boring!'" You will be warned if you are seen just quoting extensively.
Godmodding, powerplaying, and Mary-Sueing is absolutely not allowed in roleplay at any point in time. If you intend to roleplay fighting, collaborate with your partner on this and/or don't roleplay the other persons reaction to your post. Again, you will be warned if this happens.
No chatspeak/net lingo/smileys. Because no yellow round face would pop up when you speak.
This hasn't really been a problem in the past, but no RPing non Potterverse prejudices. Making your character dislike squibs and muggleborns is alright but racism, homophobia, etc. is clearly not. Nor is bringing up controversial real world issues in RPs.
Keep things as canon as possible in the setting. (This mean iPods will NOT work at Hogwarts.)
Finally, we're sort of going overboard with the werewolves, vampires, metamorphmagi, random special ability thing. From this time forward, we're keeping a list and limiting the number of such unique characters that are allowed to run around the school. When people apply, you can check if the special ability you want is available on the list and if it isn't, too bad. You'll have to make your character interesting in other ways.
Also, don't apologize about how your post might suck, or PM your partner about how it's been awhile and they haven't posted. If you think your post sucks, just edit it. Frequent apologies don't do any good, and nagging others just leads to irritation, to grudges, and ultimately to things we'd rather not have to hear about. If you lost interest in a roleplay, please tell your partner (haha, it sounds like something like STD's, that did) and let it be known in a polite, respectful manner.
Also keep in mind that it is very rude to pester people to RP with you. Continually nagging someone through PM or other means is not allowed. A person has the right to RP or not RP with the people of their choosing. Don't keep bothering a person if they don't reply to you. People have lives outside of the internet, and generally bothering people will just make them irritated.
R A T I N GThe summary of the ratings on WR are as follows: PG-13 for sex, R for language.
Sexual relationships are allowed, but we aren't interested in infringing upon Invisionfree Terms of Service. A warning should be provided on all threads containing PG-13 descriptions of nudity. No threads rated R or above are allowed on WR--we suggest a 'fade to black'. You are allowed to have characters talk ICly about having sex; we just don't want to host it on WR. If you wouldn't see it on prime-time television, please take it to PM or IM.
Language is not restricted, so as to promote free expression. We trust you as mature members to be respectful of others--cursing every other word isn't particularly expressive.
If we see a sexual scene going beyond the PG-13 limit, you will be warned. Past circumstances will not be taken into consideration, but anything from here on out will. I don't feel like having WR shut down, and hopefully none of you do either
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM a member of the staff.
O O C You may advertise other sites. However, the only place you may advertise is on the Porkteys board. No where else. At all. PM's are included. If we find out about you PMing other members to join your site, you will be banned immediately.
If you are having problems with another member, please do not broadcast it. Keep personal matters out of roleplay, and ultimately off of the site. Keep it about the RP – most of this spawns from people getting far to personal with another person. Remember you RP for a reason, and in most cases, its to get away from life and its many problems attached. Don't get mad at someone if they don't seem interested in your latest worry or bother and don't get mad at a person if they don't tell you what you want to hear. Its a double sided sword, the truth that is.
No debates. At all. Finite. S H O U T B O X The same general rules of the rest of the board apply to the shoutbox. The only exceptions are do not post more than three times in a row. Also, if you use up more than one page with a conversation between only two people, that is considered tennis. We prefer it if you then take the conversation to PM or instant messenger. However, if no one else is on, then you may continue.
Please watch your language as well as the shoutbox is on the main page. A lot of foul language in the shoutbox doesn't look appealing to perspective members.
You should also not pester people to RP with you in the shoutbox. You can give one call out for an RP, but if we see you being persistent, you may be warned. It gets obnoxious if you fill up the shoutbox with RP requests and complaints that no one is RPing with you. There is an RP call out thread if you care to find someone to RP with.
Since the other board rules do apply, we discourage net speak in the shoutbox. However, since it is more of a casual chat, we will be more lenient in the shoutbox.
G R A P H I C S Celebrity pictures ARE allowed but please, claim 'your' celebrity in the "Avatar Claim". Here
Signature size must not exceed 500 pixels (width) by 300 pixels (height). You may have several small images but if they go over the limit, you may be warned and your sig may be removed. No more than 10 lines of text either.
Don't go PMing me or other admins asking "is mine too big?!?!?" ... use your common sense. If you have an image, it should be no bigger than 500px width by 300px height. If you have that size sig, there should be nothing else in your signature. Small sigs? You can have more things. But if it exceeds 500 in width and 300 in height, it will be edited or you will be asked to change it.
Also, no animation in sigs or avis. These also make loading time insane, and they are just a pain in the butt to look at. You will be asked to remove the animation if you are seen having one, and if you do not comply, we will manually remove it and you will be warned.
Huge sigs really make loading time a pain. Also, it's annoying when someone's sig is longer than the post they made, or when it's the size of the page. If your sig makes the page scroll, you are wrong. We will make sure you get right. =] C O N S E Q U E N C E SA verbal warning and/or a PM Warning, the topic closed and moved and warning level rising, suspension/mod review of posts, then banning. This might vary depending on previous offenses and the severity of the case. NOTE: Do NOT PM Sundari or any of the staff members for a code. If you need help with your forum go to support.invisionfree.com or ifsz.net.Updated: January 31nd, 2010 This post has been edited by Ivory Vein on Jan 31 2010, 03:04 PM
