What to do, what to do. If someone were to wander down this particular hallway, they'd probably think she was going mad. Wasn't she? For a few days now she couldn't find her way out of her own head. The flame haired girl reached out and smacked the wall she was pacing near. Now she couldn't find her way out of this damned hall. Her stupid brain seemed to be on overdrive and as a direct result, so was her physical energy. That was the thing about Gwynna. Her emotions tended to manifest physically. Her father, the brilliant Ravenclaw, called it psychosomatic. Her fingers were all tingly and twitchy. Her head was pounding increasingly and for some reason, her feet refused to stand still! She shook her hands at her side and pivoted around to start back the way she came.

She was so over this getting lost bit. Her idea of going for a walk around the castle had seemed brilliant at the time. A few random turns and ample distractions later, she couldn't honestly tell where she was. Her slender fingers wound through her unruly mane of curls. It was a nervous habit, tugging at her hair. There was so much of it and it made her feel marginally better. Why had she done this? Why hadn't she just set off to find Shiral? 'Can't lie to yourself, silly.' She knew why. The same reason she hadn't gone to find her over the last few days. Her bestie was up to her pretty hazel eyeballs in drama. The lioness didn't consider it fair to pile her own issues on top of that. So instead of doing what first came to mind, the emerald-eyes girl had just wandered.

'Idle hands are the devil's playground.'

And wasn't that exactly what Gwynna had? Sure at this moment they were shaking slightly, but standing still never did work for her. After turning yet another corner, she came to a fork in the proverbial road.

"Son of a bitch." The curse came out on a huff. The fingers on her right hand abandoned her hair to massage a particularly painful portion of her forehead. There was no way she could remember which way she had come. Why couldn't she be like a normal person and stay still ever? Why couldn't her brain stop running away with itself? She blew out a breath and just picked a route. How long had she been walking around? Her stomach rumbled as though trying to tell her it had been long enough to miss a meal. Without a clock, she couldn't say whether it was lunch or dinner. She made a mental note to grab something from the Kitchens when she found her way out of this maze.

If she found her way out of this maze.

At least two of your recent role play topics:

The witch survives
Gwynna meets the calm, shy Shiral when they are paired up for a project involving the Forbidden Forest. She soon realizes that they not only have a shared past experience, but they are also destined to be best friends.

The quest for knowledge and tallness
Gwynna has an unfortunate incident with Henry in the Library. She starts off by physically running him over, and then proceeds to verbally run him over. She quickly understands that friendship is not going to be so easy with him.

(And one just in case)Once more [with feeling]
Gwynna formally meets James for the first time. She's having a rotten day, and asks for his advice, since he is someone she looks up to greatly.

Why you feel that you should move up: Since I started a month ago, I feel like I'm beginning to understand Gwynna more and more. As much of a crazy spaz as she is, having her interact with different people has really brought out things in her that I hadn't known before. I've gotten some experience starting threads, replying and ending them as well, so I feel a lot more comfortable doing that. Also, I'm excited to get feedback on my writing skills. I think my abilities are pretty good, but there is still so much that I know I could work on.

The Courtyard was mostly empty when Gwynna finally managed to detach herself from lessons for the day. The sunlight was patchy through the clouds that claimed most of the sky. Earlier in the day, rain looked imminent but the clouds had since dissipated slightly. She tossed her bag down rather forcefully, sending a few stray birds fluttering off. "Sorry!" she whispered, not having seen the birds before. The day had been a total slog fest. One painfully slow class after another, and the overcast sky had only served to lengthen the whole experience. First it had been Advanced Charms. God, the memory alone raised the bile in her throat. Why did she always give into her mother's insistance on higher level courses? O.W.L.s were important, she knew that. She also knew how absolutely rubbish she was at Charms though. Every day in that class was like drowning slowly. If only she could not be such a bleeding spazz when it came to spell casting. Potions? No problem. Herbology? Aces. Charms? Total and abject failure.

She collapsed on the bench and let out a sigh to rival all sighes. It really was a wonder she was still functioning. Well, minimally functioning, but all the same. After Charms she had been hit with the dreaded DADA. She was almost positive the professor hated her. Plus a pixie had bitten her on the ear. She rubbed the affected ear gently, feeling the swelling. Nothing worse than being caught off guard by sharp little teeth nibbling on your flesh. A shudder ran down her spine at that. She could actually muster the immobulus charm, but hitting those little beast was like nailing jello to a wall. She had accidentally hit a slytherin across from her with it. Naturally, once the boy had become unfrozen, a more violent curse came at her. A trip to the hospital and many self-directed verbal curses later, she was physically okay, and mentally exhausted.

What she needed was a pick-me-up. Or maybe a wise older person to reinforce in her brain that the struggle was worth it. She glanced around as if the thought would manifest that exact thing. No luck. Worse than that, it looked like the only people around were worn out souls much like her. Not exactly the boost she was looking for. Her bag had opened on impact with the ground and a few books had fallen out. After she wrangled everything back into the bag, she leaned back and closed her eyes. This day had to get better at some point, right?

Name: Gwynna Masner

Age: 16

Bloodline: Pureblood

Physical Appearance: Gwynna has the look of her Irish heritage. She has flame red hair that she'd rather not cut if it were up to her and emerald eyes that sparkle when she's being mischievious. Gwynna received her nose from her mother, but her mouth is all dad. She is rather short compared to others her age, but that's no bother to her. The only part of her appearance she's a little self conscious about would be her ears. They're pointed. Not her favorite. Depending on the time of year, she's either curvy or a little too curvy (to her liking anyhow). See, she eats her emotions at times. It's not flattering. The way she tries to balance that is by spending time outside. More on that later.

Personality: Gwynna tends to wear her heart on her sleeve at times. She likes to think she's logical, but sometimes her emotions tend to get the better of her. Fiercely loyal, she tends to find herself in sticky situations if she runs with the wrong people. Gwynna is one of those friends you like to have around during rough times. She will come to your rescue at any time of the day or night and she won't hesitate to help you out if you're someone she cares about. As loyal as she is, don't break her trust. Gwynna has a hard time trusting people after they've betrayed her. She hates being angry, as a matter of fact, sometimes she forgives people just so she won't have to carry around the burden of anger. However, when she is hurt, it takes a while for her to come around. That may be the reason she sometimes prefers books to people. She has been known to spend all afternoon out in the fields near her parents' house, reading a good book... or five. Because of her love of books, Gwynna is highly intelligent. Her parents both work for the Ministry as Herbologists. Plants practically run in her blood.

Character Background: Declan and Illyana Masner met at Hogwarts. Declan was a 5th year, generally messing about not focusing on his O.W.L.s. Illyana, Illy for short, was a fourth year herbology prodigy. When Declan finally realized he wanted to work with plants (thanks to a push from a certain Herbology professor) he decided to track Illyana down and ask her to tutor him. He received top marks on his O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s thanks to Illy and both of them were head hunted by the ministry to conduct research into cross breeding for potions. Declan and Illyana bought a nice house in Ireland, not far from his parents' home.

When Gwynna was born, her birth was both happy and sad. Illyana had a difficult pregnancy. She was confined to the bed for the second part and in the end, she went into labor 5 weeks early. Gwynna was born first, and her sister Brynna was second. Both girls were very sick for the first few days. Brynna died when they were just a week old. Illy was devastated and nearly refused to care for her living daughter. Gwynna's saving grace came in the form of her mother's cat, Ceili. Ceili would climb in the crib with Gwynna and curl up next to her to keep the babe warm. It was almost as though Ceili understood that her mistress was too distraught, and not in her right mind, so it was up to her to keep Gwynna company. After a few weeks, Illy finally broke through her cloud of depression and found joy again in the face of her small miracle. Declan loved his girls with everything he had, giving them the world when he could.

When Gwynna was three, she became the proud older sister of a boy, Jacob. When she was four, Aidan came along. Having two youngwer brothers was everything Gwynna had hoped, and sometimes a little that she hadn't. She learned very quickly that she had an innate mothering instinct. Her brothers didn't always listen, okay they rarely listened, but Gwynna was determined to do what was best for them and to protect them from harm. She grew up climbing trees with them and running, jumping, playing ball with them. Her family is her heart.

The stacks were her safe haven. This was the one place indoors that she could take a deep breath and finally relax. The castle was constantly filled with so much useless noise but here, here she could revel in the quiet. So far, she hadn't found what she was looking for but it was just a matter of time. To Gwynna, the library was akin to the forrest behind her parents house. Both were so unbearably expansive and mysterious, but at the same time utterly familiar. She tried to think back to what brought her here. Ah yes, that potions class when the professor gave her a recipe she hadn't seen before. A rare occurance, but one worth looking into. Growing up with two parents researching potion herbology for the Ministry guaranteed that Gwynna would have a formidable knowledge of potions. Even if she hadn't brewed it herself, there was a good chance she at least had a working understanding of the recipe. It had been a fun challenge for her potions master to find advanced potions for her to work on. Felix Felicius had been pretty tricky, but then again, she had been a fourth year. She had managed once she realized the directions needed to be tweaked, as most usually did.

Gywnna ran a hand over her pulled back hair. The strands were forever trying to escape the ponytail or bun she coaxed her hair into every day. Long flowing hair had been her goal, since she couldn't pull it back when it was short and running around with her hair down in her face was not an option. She was turning the corner when she heard a loud peal of laughter ahead. She was ready to give them a stern lecture on library etiquette when she noticed it was two first years. Her face softened and she placed a finger on her lips to remind them to be queit. There was no point in getting angry with them. First years were still children and you couldn't blame them for what they didn't remember was wrong. Gwynna kept walking and found the book she was looking for on her right, two shelves higher than she could reach. She looked left and right, and didn't see anyone around. Why was it that tall boys weren't around when she needed them? They walked around the castle like they owned the place and did any of them actually show up when she was actually in need of their long arms and impressive reach? No. That was a big old no. But that was fine. She didn't need them to keep her company at night, and she certainly didn't need them to help her now. Nevermind the fact that getting a foot off the ground gave her a nosebleed and made her head swim.

After trying to leap at the shelf a couple of times, she blew an escaped strand of hair out of her face and turned on her heels, ready to track down the first person over 5'5 and implore them to help her get to what she needed. She looked around, trying to spot those first years. She had no qualms in bribing them to climb a ladder. After all, they were young. Even if they did fall off, they'd bounce right? She walked to the end of a row, about ready to shout, she was so agitated. When was the library ever this deserted? Usually, she was having to relocate outdoors just to get away from the panicked students loudly trying to cram for their next exam. She turned the corner quickly and slammed right into a guy coming from the other direction. She stumbled back a few steps and caught herself on the bookcase behind her. She opened her mouth to yell at him when two things occurred to her simultaneously. First- this guy wasn't the one hurriedly rushing through the stacks, not paying a lot of attention to cross traffic. Two- he was taller than her. This was precisely what she was looking for. He had arms that looked perfectly capable of reaching high things. "Are you busy? Great! Come with me. I need someone with long arms and you're perfect. Sorry by the way, about that whole flying into you thing. I'm pretty impatient."
